Pontiac Catalina 1958 Description

1958 Pontiac chieftain, not a Catalina (eBay required a sub-model and chieftain was not an option) two door hardtop. I recently recovered this car from long term storage. It was purchased in Arkansas and was brought to Wisconsin from Prescott Arizona 20 years ago. It is a solid car and does not have all the typical rust belt type of rot. I dropped and cleaned the gas tank, gave the 370 plugs, wires, cap, rotor, points and cleaned the carb and it fired right up. The engine runs really strong. I replaced the master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake hoses with new USA parts and the car stops. I just drove it up to speed today and the tranny shifts thru all gears very nicely.
This is a relatively unmolested car. The has not been any patch panels welded in anywhere. Nothing to hide and it still has 75% of its original paint. There are a few rust areas. The bottom of the fenders will need a small patch and the area behind the rear wheels will need a patch inner and outer. The body mounts are very solid I have pictures but could only attach 12 to the auction.
Floor pans front and rear have a few small holes and the rear of the trunk floor where it meets the body needs a little work. Just trying to paint an honest picture of the overall condition.
It's a factory 370 2 barrel hydramatic car. No power anything. The front seat is all intact as far as hardware. Seats are pretty tattered and will need foam and covers. The wiring will need work. It appears the headlight wiring got hot enough to melt some.
All the trim is there and is in nice shape. A lot of the chrome will clean up decent enough for a driver quality car.
Basically your buying a barn fresh car that was gone thru far enough to determine that the drivetrain is good. Car runs and drives enough to test out but obviously needs more work to be road worthy.
Great car to do a frame on restoration, or do the interior and drive as is.
I do have a 1958 Pontiac two door post car that is a parts car for this. It is a factory tri power car with a stick and is 95% complete. I will offer it to the winning bidder for $1000 if you are intrested. Will easily part out for much more than that.
