I am selling this 1955 Plymouth Savoy for a close friend of mine from southwest Minnesota who inherited this car in 2012 and has driven it for the last three years aprroximately 500 miles. He took it in parades and numarous short trips. Since he is in his 30's he expressed to me that this is just not his kind of car he is into and asked me to sell it. The issues that he told me the car needs are the headlights work sometimes and sometimes not( he thought probally a ground) the tailights blinkers and parking lights and brake lights work. The heater works the blower works etc. All of the windows go up and down the vent windows work and the glass is all good. The doors all open and shut the way they should.
He said that his dad had the car repainted in 1985 and the paint still shows well. I did not detect any rust spots that should be addressed. there was some spots of paint that is flaked off and the black primer is what is showing through. The trunk pan is solid and the floor pans are solid except the driver side floor where a hole has started about the size of a half dollar. it is a automatic transmission and it shifts the way it should as far as I can see. The guages are working. It has the original interior and from being from 1955 it is in good shape as pictured. He informed me that the rear shocks should be replaced and are weak. the brakes stop the car but you have to pump them once to build pressure.(brakes probally need bleeding) I did not notice any leaks under the car other than normal seapage etc. My friend put new tires on it all the way around. When we did the video I was very impressed by how well this car drove for a 1955. We ran it for about 40 minutes or so and it drove very nice even at 55 mph. We where told that since the car came from southwest Minnesota it has never seen any salt.
I have set my reserve below what the old car price guide shows what this car should sell for to ensure a sale. As everyone has their own idea about what a classic car should be I would highly recommend coming to inspect the car by appointment or hire ebay to do a independant inspection for you before placing a bid. I do not want to overcall this car or undercall it. Let the pictures video and description tell the story. understand that you are bidding on a classic 60 year old not restored car and that some things may go unseen to us please ask questions and do your homework before placing a bid. I require a 500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. If I do not get the deposit within the timeframe or before you come for the car I will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it. I can help recommend shippers I have used in the past who have been very reasonable. If you have any questions at all please call 563 568 1182 or 563 568 5111 and we will do our best to answer any questions. Thanks and have fun bidding on this very neat vintage 1955 plymouth savoy!
