Plymouth Fury 1959 Description
I bought this car on September. 19th. 2010 with hopes of getting it running and driving to have some fun. I'm just too busy with too many other cars to restore that take priority. According to the Classic car database. they made 21494 of these. The guys at 59 Plymouth. com say it's getting very rare and desirable. I didn't try to start it because a rabbit chewed through the spark plug wires. but we did drop a battery in it and it turned over freely. the oil looks and smells good(I have video of it turning over if you would like to see. ) This car has the very desirable swivel seats that work great and a few other cool options like an automatic head light dimmer( at least I think that's what it is. ) It also has power brakes and an original pushbutton radio. There is rust in the quarters but the floors and trunk all appear solid. I did notice the front left bumper had hit something at some point and it appears to have very minimal frame damage. but only before the steering assembly and wheels. I think it would drive fine. The front windshield needs replaced. check the brakes and away you go. I have looked and can't find very many that have the two tone option with a blue roof. most came with a white roof. According to the original brochure. it gets over 21 miles per gallon with this 318 motor. which I believe is numbers matching but I didn't clean it to find the numbers. I do have a clear Arizona title and we can trace the cars' past to 1995. I also know the car originally sold at Wood Motor Company in Brainerd. Minnesota. Someone before me put the tan fenders on it so I don't really know much but at least they are on. just enough. but need more attention. I do have the needed exterior trim for both front fenders that came off the old ones. It has an ignition key only. the trunk lock will have to be replaced. The driver door needs to have the three bolts put in. The car is for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction early. I believe the milage may be original. the numbers line up nice and there is very little wear on the peddles. Call if you have questions. Chris @ 310-709-5561As for the two tone. this was most certainly an option. Your paint code (BX) is an iceberg white body with a powder blue top. For a white body car every color except pearl grey was an option for the roof. As for the VIN plate. here is the breakdown. M266107450M: 19592: Plymouth V86: Fury6: build in Detroit107450: 7450th Fury built in Detroit262 is the body type which tells it's a Fury V8 2dr hardtop03323 is a build number. 21 is your trim (interior code) which is for 2dr and 4dr Fury hardtops and for Sport Suburbans. This has a blue seat and blue bolster. Your car was built the 5th of November 1958. Looking at the pics. your Fury has solex green tinted safety glass too. Thanks to Matthew Keij for the info!
