This is the son's portion of the father and son collection weare representing. Just like his father'sbeautifully restored 1969 Hurst Olds, this 1979 example is extremely well restored and probably one of the nicest '79 Hurst Olds in existence today! Oldsmobile partnered with Hurst once again in 1979 to build 2499 H/O W-30 cars. Of those cars, they built 1334 black and gold versions and only 1165 white and gold ones like you see here!
Exterior
The car received a complete restoration with amazing two-stage paint that looks better than GM could ever have attained with the processes they had in 1979. The body panels are laser straight, with very nice panel gaps and the paint shines like glass! This car is a super solid, rust free example that will surely present well at your local or national level car shows. All of the correct Hurst emblems are inplaceand in excellent condition. The bumpers and stainless trim are all dent free and shine like new. The limited and very rare Hurst edition wheels and beautiful with no curb rash or blemishes and are wrapped in a staggered set of BF-Goodrich T/A radials that look new. There is a very small area of cracking paint on the passenger side front bumper filler (shown in picture link below).
Interior
The interior of this car is just as stunning as the outside. All new correct seat covers were professionally installed. The door panels and most of the rest of the interior panels and console are original and look very nice. The wood inserts on the dash were replaced with correct GM pieces and look flawless. Headliner and carpet are in excellent shape as well. While there is an aftermarket stereo in place, a factory radio and uncut surround piece are included with sale. Thegauge cluster was replaced to repair a problem with the original unit, so miles are not correct on the current odometer. The original odometer that shows 8x,xxx miles is included as well. The only blemishes in the interior are some typical cracking on the dash around the speakers (Detailed pictures in link below).
Engine Bay
The original 350 Rocket engine is still in place, backed by a TH350 automatic transmission with a B&M shift kit. A/C was removed by a previous owner, butmost of the partsgo with the car. The new owner would just need to source and replace the lines. The engine bay is very clean and detailed and comes with some additional parts as well.
Chassis
The stock rear end has been replaced with a 8.5" 10 bolt unit out of a Buick Grand National. A brand new Eaton TrueTrac posi unit was installed along with 28 spline axles. The rear end was approximately $2500 alone! There was also an aluminum driveshaft installed at the same time. A reproduction W-27 aluminum differential cover was installed as well.
