Ford Other Pickups 1951 Description

Here's a really nice vintage Ford F3 pickup in good restored condition. My master mechanicspent several months refurbishing it. He installed a new Ford 5 layer radiator, king pins and bushings, tie rod and ends, front brake hoses, front shocks, steering spindle, turned the front drums and seated the linings, rebuilt the carburetor, fuel filter and linesand did a bunch of rewiring, adding a new starter solenoid. It also has a new set of chrome upper radiator tubes with chrome water necks and new thermostats. The F3 is the "heavy" 3/4 ton model (rated at over a full ton) with a full 8 foot bed and heavy duty suspension, much rarer than the standard F1 with a short bed. It has been repainted with pin striping and has a refurbished interior with a recovered seat, cab lining etc. All the glass is intact and operable, as is the cowl vent. Original 6 volt system with a new battery. The secondary instruments are not hooked up, nor the heater blower, but it looks like everything is intact and just needs some wiring. The speedometer and odometer work fine.Even the original vacuum windshield wipers work, as does the horn, lights, etc.I don't know if the mileage indicated is true, but it seems believable though the engine may have been rebuilt. In any case it starts and runs quite well with no unusual noises. The paint andinterior are not show quality, but very nice as andaily driver. Underneath, the chassis and body are extremelyclean with no rust or rot.

The trans is the original 4 speed spur gear floor shifter with a compound low and the stock 4.89 rear end. Somewhere along the way it acquired more modern Ford F250 wheels with wider tires (225/75-18). This truck starts, stops and runs like it should -- but remember this is 1950's technology! The bed is heavy plywood with a nice sealed finish, very solid and useable.
I bought the truck to use at my vineyard and winery, but am now selling the property so the truck needs to go too as I have no place to keep it at home. Here's your chance to get a nice, restored vintage pickup for everyday use. Please email if you have any questions. This truck is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the listing at any time.
