Ford F-100 1976 Description

Up for sale is this 1976 Ford F100 4x4 short-wheelbase pickup truck.

It has a 360FE V8 motor, NP435 4-speed manual transmission, Dana 21 transfer case, and 3.50 gears. The truck when new was delivered to a dealer in Memphis, Tennessee and the truck has remained in the Mid-South area since.

The body of the truck is fairly straight. It is a nice driver quality truck, certainly not a show truck. I personally believe the pictures make the truck look better than it does in person. There are small scratches and dings here and there and a small dent in the passenger side door. The rust worth mentioning on the truck is under the battery on the inner fender, radiator support, a small amount in the floor boards on either side, and a small amount at the front corners on the interior of the doors. The truck has been repainted in its lifetime but the interior of the cab remains the original dark yellow green metallic. The truck had a CB at some point and the antenna remains on the roof.

The seat has a few tears in it but is in fair condition. The floor has been covered in vinyl and attached with screws. The door panels have small cracks but are decent. The headliner, dash pad, and armrests have been covered in camouflage fabric. All of the lights work, the roll bar lights work by switches under the dash as do the lights behind the grille.

It has BFG Mud Terrain 305 70 R16 tires on 8-spoke wheels. The front tires have decent tread but the back two are pretty low on tread due to not rotating properly. It has 2.5” exhaust with flowmaster type mufflers and exhaust tips. It sounds very good but is a little on the loud side.

It has had lots of new parts put on it in the recent years that include:

-front rotors

-front pads

-front wheel bearings

-new set of Mile Marker hubs

-rear drums

-rear shoes

-rear hardware kits

-power steering pump

-power steering gear box

-hooker headers

-2 1/2 inch exhaust, mufflers, tips

-clutch kit

It likely has had more new parts but that is all I can remember at the moment.

ISSUES WITH THIS TRUCK:

The truck does run and drive, however, it could use some TLC to make it perform and drive better. The motor runs well but it doesn't always like to idle. The carburetor could probably use either cleaning and adjusting or a rebuild kit. The clutch needs to be adjusted, it sounds like the throw-out bearing is spinning when the pedal is pressed to the floor. The power steering system acts like it has air in the system and needs to be bled as it will quit working intermittently. The track bar bushings (included) need to be replaced to take up some of the slack out of the steering as well as an alignment.
