Chevrolet Other Pickups 1951 Description
1951 Chevrolet 3100 three window pickup truck. A Colorado original truck.I bought this truck from a gentleman who did an amateur restoration on it. He installed almost all new sheet metal! This truck is as straight as an arrow. It has a later model 235 6 cylinder engine. It runs fine but I don't know much about the engine. It was in the truck when I bought it. The truck is from Colorado Springs Colorado per what I can determine. It is painted a 1950s blue with black fenders. Not sure on mileage but I had to put something in the box.
New partsthe previous ownerinstalled include:
Newreproduction front fenders, hood, bumpers, completerear bedwith new tailgate, and rear fenders. New radiator. New hubcaps. New bed kit with new wood planksandmetalstrips. New head lightsand tail lights. New steering wheel. All new glass. All new door and glassrubber.New headliner.New wipers. New paint including the interior. He also rewired the whole truck. Truckhas theoriginal 6 volt system. It also has a 6 volt AM/FM installed in the original radiolocation on the dash. The antenna is up under the dash. All new hoses. New seat. Seatbelts.
Since I have owned it I have done the following upgrades;
New heater core. New coil. New dry element air cleaner. New 6 volt Optima battery in a case that resembles an original 6 volt battery. I had a shop do the following mechanical and safety upgrades:
New temperature gauge andsender line. Remounted radiator with custom fan shroud, new fan,and short water pump. The radiator drops in and out with six bolts. Upgraded to an open driveline including a rebuilt Saginaw 4 speed ( From David's 4 Speeds).Rebuilt third member out of a 1958 Chevrolet Apache with new 3.38 rear gears ( Truck and Car Shop)). The 55-59 Apache third member is the only one thatallows for an open drive line while keeping the original rear axle. Really nice clean setup. Completely rebuilt rear axle to include all new bearings and seals ( NAPA). New custom drive shaft. Axle relocation kit (Western Chassis) that puts theaxle in the proper location after removing the torque tube. This whole setup makes for very improved driving manners. You get synchronized shiftsin all four gears with the ability to cruise down the highway comfortably. This truck is a dream to drive. Looks original but drives like a newer truck!
It also has new brakes all around ( NAPA). New double pot master cylinder. Rebuilt clutch. Custom forward control floor shifter made for the Saginaw 4 speedfrom T&F Shifters. This puts the shifter in the factory position for proper shifter alignment in the cab. All new springs front and rear. New shackles, bushings, and U bolts. New shocks.
All of the driveline conversionworkand listed upgrades werecompleted by a professional award winning hot rod shop in Colorado. I asked them to go through it and repair or replace anything that they thought was unsafe in addition to upgrading the driveline. The goal was to make asafe fun truck while retaining the original appearance.
This is a nice presentable truck. Paint was sprayed by a professional body shop by the previous owner. Paint job is very nice but not perfect. Al the sheet metal is nice and straight and the truck shows well. If you add up the price of just the parts this truck is priced very reasonably.
Sold as is where is. I reserve the right to end the sale early as I have the truck for sale locally. I try to describe things as accurately has possible. Pleaseremember this is an old truck and I can only account for what I actually know about it.
I have a clear Colorado title in my name. A $1000.00 deposit must be made through PayPal within 48 hours of the auction ending. No overseas shipping. Payment through PayPal, wire transfer, cash, or certified bank check. Certified bank check must be drawn on a US bank and clear before the truck is picked up.
I sold a couple other trucks on EBay and everyonehas beensatisfied. Thanks for looking.
On May-30-16 at 15:44:01 PDT, seller added the following information:I had two question asked about the truck.
1-The wheels are 15"
2- All the gauges work. Even the gas gauge which is a small miracle in these trucks.
