Chevrolet Other Pickups 1951 Description
OK people... $12500.00 please read and understand there will be a quiz later. NO TIRE KICKERS or PENNY PINCHERS!
What we have here is an opportunity to purchase a one of a kind 5 window 1951 Chevrolet 3100. This truck is beautiful inside and out not perfect but super nice. She starts easy runs smooth shifts and stops well. She stays cool in the heat so the radiator and water pump must be working. I will warn you that it takes a man to drive her (or a really strong chic). Regardless of your physicality you will enjoy the attention that you get from others and of course the jealousy of your neighbors.
Stats:
235 cid straight 6 cylinder with a 1 bbl carb true dual exhaust with stainless steel headers and cherry bomb style mufflers. It is loud and sounds exactly like what a 60 year old 6 banger should sound like... 4-Speed floor shifter with a suggestive Bettie Page shifter knob included. All of the gauges and speedo work although the fuel gauge could be more accurate. The fan blows heat and the 2 windows roll down for natural air conditioning....
note: For those that do not understand I mean the wind blows through the window when you are driving there is no actual A/C... Geez!
Here is what I have done to her so far:
Full tune up including carb rebuild spark plugs wires points cap rotor button coil and checked/adjusted the timing.
Replaced the head gasket exhaust/intake gaskets oil pan gasket valve cover and everything else that I found leaking. Still leaks a bit but she’s old it happens.
painted engine and compartment
replaced brake shoes and springs wheel cylinders and master cylinder
replaced front wheel bearings and king pins.
replaced speedometer mechanicals
New battery last season
went through and cleaned up electrical system
Removed the Oak bed wood and refinished with a beautiful Gun Stock stain and durable Valspar varnish. Also I made a matching wooden bed box for shine and show gear.
The former owner did a very nice original type restoration sometime in the late 90's from what I understand. She had become neglected not starting/running no brakes and a general bad attitude when I got her 4 years ago.
You can run her to the show this year! You could take her down for a full rework.. If neither you can just drive the crap out of her for as long as you want she's willing! In my opinion this truck is about the best project starting point you could find.
Possible trade deal for HD motorcycle
THE RULES!
1) No Metrics Sportsters OR Wide Glides2) No Projects...3) No shade tree customs4) I prefer touring bikes my favorite bike is the Road King.
