Chevrolet Corvette 1964 Description
Up for sale is my 1964 C2 Corvette. The car speaks for itself, it’s one of the nicest C2 hot rods you will come across.
This car was originally built by Rod Sudbury, I’m not sure of the time frame but would guess it was sometime in the 1990’s. Since then it has changed hands a few times and when I purchased it I did a fairly comprehensive refresh of the entire car. There are many pictures of this car from back in the day when Rod owned it floating around on the internet. When I bought the car it had Rods’ name across the front windshield.
The car was professionally wheel tubbed, at some point in its life and had a Winters Performance quick change rear differential installed, utilizing a four link coil over suspension design. The quick change rear end is a pretty unusual piece and functions as it should.I have never switched the gears around myself so I’m not exactly sure what the two ratios are but the car cruises nicely on the parkway with the four speed tranny.
Over the last year I have had the entire car disassembled and rebuilt. It has a complete and new interior, I had a the dash cluster re-chromed, silk screened and all new Autometer gauges installed, new OEM looking radio installed, new black leather dash board cover, new black leather seat covers with new seat foams, custom leather door panels, head liner and all door and window hardware restored or replaced.I also installed new IDIDIT tilt steering column, D bar and new rack and pinion steering parts.Car was rewired professionally, head lights were professionally rebuilt using best OEM parts not cheap Chinese motors and most everything in the engine bay was replaced and or cleaned up, most of the plumbing was converted to braided stainless steel lines with AN fittings, I had a new custom stainless steel gas tank fabricated and installed, a complete Aeromotive fuel delivery system, A1000 pump, billet filters, all new fuel lines, new blower belt, and had FiTech fuel injection system installed. The car has custom stainless steel headers and side pipes manufactured and installed by American Racing Headers of Deer Park, car has a brand new hand built M22 tranny with forged case, hardened gears, best aftermarket parts available, new drive shaft, forged yoke and upgraded U joints. It has a new Quick time bell housing, McLeod RST Twin disc clutch, and forged billet flywheel, new MSD ignition, Tuff Stuff Starter and alternator and a new set of MT sportsman’s radials all around. It also has new Willwood master cylinder, and front disc brakes, has GM metric disc brakes out back.Car has upper and lower tubular control arms, and QA1 coil over shocks up front as well.
The engine is original to the car from when I purchased it.Its a 4 Bolt main 383 with a 6-71 blower it was built by Vette Doctors several years. I do not know the specifics but Carmen at Vette Doctors told me as he recalled it had an aftermarket forgedrotating assembly, ported aluminum heads and was built to make about 600HP at the crank. The engine has less then 3k miles on it since the car was put together and registered.I have had the engine disassembled to the short block, had everything inspected and new gaskets installed. The engine is in like new condition, each cylinder is perfect, the aluminum heads were stripped and cleaned, it runs strong and is very reliable.
All work was done by Eddie G Hot Rods of Bohemia and anyone who knows Eddie understands the quality of his work.Eddie went through every nut and bolt, completely disassembling, cleaning, and detailing every part of this car.Eddie is currently in the process of installing a dual quad Fitech fuel injection system on the car designed to work with the supercharger, it was previously set up with two Holley 650 CFM four barrel carburetors. All interior work was done by Miller Place Auto Upholstery, which again John and Phil do the best work I have ever seen. The exhaust including an outstanding set of custom stainless headers and side pipes which are one of a kind were done by Nick over at American Racing Header, the headers are a work of art.The transmission was built locally using the best available European forged parts not OEM or cheap Chinese cast parts.
The car is ready to drive and take to shows, I have never raced it and the previous owner trailered it to a few shows butnever really drove it much. The body has a couple of small stress cracks in the typical places, the paint looks very good from ten feet but isn't perfect but it is very very presentable. The only negative to this car is at some point a former owner had the car pin striped and it’s a bit over bearing. The car will need a repaint at some point in the future and it’s a perfect opportunity to get read of the pin striping.
This car was professionally redone I spared no expense when it came to rebuilding it; the best of everything was purchased and installed with the utmost quality to produce an outstanding and dependable hot rod. You will not be disappointed with this car. Please keep in mind this is not a divorce sale, fire sale, etc so please don’t contact me if you’re not serious about purchasing this vehicle and you don’t have the money to do so.At this time I’m not really interested in any trades as I’m actually trying to down size my car collection. The car is on Long island and is available for inspection to serious buyers.
