1965 Corvette with Factory Air Conditioning


In 1965 Chevrolet manufactured 23,562 Corvette Stingrays. 8,186 were Coupes, nd only 2,423 had factory air conditioning which makes this car very rare. In 1965 vertical louvers on the side of the car were now made functional. The depressions on the standard hood were removed. The rocker panels were also restyled. The most important feature on the 1965 Corvette was disc brakes were now made standard equipment. This particular car original came with a 327 cubic inch engine however at some point the original engine was replaced with a later model Chevrolet 350 cubic inch engine.
This Corvette has had a complete “body off” restoration at the highly specialized “Stingray Auto Tech” Corvette restoration shop in Mississauga Ontario. The frame was sandblasted, epainted and all the factory chalk marks were put in the appropriate places. All the brakes were replaced, ear differential was rebuilt, ew exhaust installed, ody mounts were replaced, he entire suspension was dissembled, ebuilt, ew shocks and springs were installed. New Goodyear tires were also installed. The air conditioning compressor was rebuilt and all hoses and connections replaced. The engine and transmission were rebuilt with new bearings, askets, nd clutch. The carburetor was also rebuilt. The result was a car which drove as nice as it did the day it rolled off the assembly line. The seats had new foam installed with new leather seat covers. (Please note this car came originally equipped with vinyl seat covers.) The car Wwas completely sanded down, he hood and doors and realigned all panels to ensure all gaps were even. The car was then primed in epoxy primer, nd painted base-clear back to it’s original color ''Milano Maroon''. Once the car was painted all body emblems were replaced with new ones. The original spinner hubcaps were replaced them with brand new reproduction knock off wheels.
Everything is in perfect working order.The paint is flawless. If you’re looking for an air conditioned mid-year Corvette which has been completely restored without having to incur the expense associated with a frame off restoration you have just found that car.


OK LETS BE HONEST ABOUT HERE ABOUT "NUMBERS CORRECT" MID YEAR CORVETTES.... MOST OF THE CORRECT NUMBERED CORVETTE AREN'T ....NOT EVEN CLOSE! ANYBODY CAN STAMP A BLOCK AND INSTALL IN A MID YEAR, NYBODY AND THEY HAVE!

MOST OF THE COLLECTOR CARS I HAVE WORKED ON ARE PONTIAC'S.

PONTIAC DIVISION CHOSE TO CAST BLOCK NUMBERS AND DATES MAKING THESE PARTS ABSOLUTE, NFORTUNATELY CHEVY CHOSE TO STAMP THEIR BLOCKS, ENCE THERE ARE A LOT OF COUNTERFEIT NUMBERS MATCHING CARS. I KNOW THE CORVETTE WORLD WILL NOT APPRECIATE MY COMMENTS BUT THAT IS TRULY ACTUAL. BELOW IS A CURRENT POSTED CAR FOR SALE ON EBAY AND THEY ADMIT IN THE AD THE BLOCK HAS BEEN STAMPED!

I have owned this car since 1983 and it has about 59,000 miles on it. Completed a 7 year frame off restoration in 2009. Haven't driven the car more than once since. All numbers matching other than the block which is currently a 350 cid. I have a correct block for the car (350 hp 327 cid) which has been stamped with the serial number. I also have a set of dated coded correct heads. The other engine parts are dated coded correct and mounted in the car. It took years to assemble the parts which includeE:

I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER STAMP A BLOCK BUT IT IS DONE ALL THE TIME. MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE CORRECT AND DATE CODED BLOCK. THE 327 BLOCK AND HEADS ARE AVAILABLE AND IF ITS REALLY IMPORTANT TO YOU I CAN FIND YOU A DATE CODED BLOCK AND MATCHING PARTS AND INSTALL THEM IF ITS THAT IMPORTANT TO YOU. THIS 350 HAS BEEN TOTALLY REBUILT LIKE THE REST OF THE CAR AND HAS A HOLLEY 600cfm ON IT WITH A CORRECT L-79 350 HP ALUMINUM INTAKE AND PURRS LIKE A KITTEN.

THE CLOCK IS ORIGINAL TO THE CAR AND NOW HAS NEW MOVEMENTS AND WORKS FINE. ALSO CHANGED IS THE STOCK POINTS AND NOW HAS POINTLESS IGNITION, HE MANUFACTURER IS "IGNITOR PERTRONIX AND THIS IGNITION WORKS GREAT. THE BRAKES WERE REPLACED WITH CADMIUM PLATED DRILLED AND SLOTTED ROTORS AND CERAMIC BRAKES YES I KNOW ITS NOT CORRECT BUT PLAIN AND SIMPLE THEY WORK AND WITH FACTORY POWER OPTION THEY ARE VERY IMPRESSIVE. FOR THOSE WHO DEMAND ORIGINAL BRAKES I HAVE THEM AND CAN INSTALL IF YOU WISH.

AS YOU CAN SEE IN THE PHOTOS THE CAR HAD 59K MILES ON IT IN 5/84 I HAVE TALKED TO THE LAST 2 OWNERS AND BECAUSE OF THE CONDITION OF THE CAR WE ALL AGREE THAT THAT IS THE ORIGINAL MILEAGE.

THE ORIGINAL RESTORATION IS COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BUT I JUST SPENT THE LAST TWO MONTHS GOING THROUGH EVERYTHING AND REPLACED THE FOLLOWING WITH ALL NEW AND ORIGINAL PARTS;
