Chevrolet Other Pickups 1948 Description
Click above arrow for video of this 1948 Chevy five window 1/2ton running and driving! (if doesnt work try watching on non mobile device)
I am offering this 1948 Chevy 5 window 1/2 ton pick up truck up for sale. After originally buying it, had my mechanic do a complete tune up to it including points, lugs, ondensor, nd a carb. The engine runs very nice with no knocks misses or smoke. It is hooked up with a 12 volt coil running off a 12 volt battery. The original wire harness is not hooked up but if you elect to leave it a 6 volt system, ou will hook up a 6 volt coil, nstall a 6 volt battery and hook up the wire harness and you should have lights and guages. The original wire harness in my opinion should be replaced as it looks old due to its age but it is all there.
What makes this truck so collectible and rare is the 5 window and it being a 1/2 ton short box. It will fit into most garages and it is very easy to park/move around. All of the gears shifts the way they should but they may need to be adjusted to be smoother on the downshifts. I had the truck driving 50 mph and it drove very nice and in my opinion just like a 48 Chevy pick up truck should. Make sure to watch the video for a good idea of how fun it is to drive around. The truck stops good but it only has the rear brakes done. The fronts should have new brake cylinders and lines. the speedo was working. The Truck is running off a Aux tank in the cab. The original tank is there but should be cleaned out before using. The tires are servicable but are older and should be replaced. The trim rings and hub caps look great on the truck as pictured.
It has a visor on it that in my opinion really ads to the overall look and lines of the truck! The paint is servicable and looks good in my opinion but it is a stage 1 tractor style paint and is not a show quality paint job. It looks good enough in my eyes to leave the way it is and enjoy but if you want to take it to the next level, ou may want to repaint it. The body is steel and is very solid overall as far as I can see. I pictured any blemishes, ings, r any spots where very minor filler was used (definitely nothing crazy or overly noticable.) there were dings here and there on the cab and fenders also pictured. There was plywood in the bed that looked good. The glass looks very nice with no cracks I saw, s pictured, ut there was some very light fogging along the edges of the front windshield. The doors all open and shut the way they sould and the windows all crank down. The tailgate opens and shuts.
We had many thumbs up and smiles when doing the video and we had a blast running it and using it in town for some errands. Understand that this is a truck that has been brought to a level where you can drive it and have a blast with it while tinkering with it here and there addressing the things it needs, ut is not show quality. This truck comes with a clean and clear Iowa title matching the vin plate ready for you to register. The plates, ash magnets, nd toppers do not go with the truck as they are part of my personal collection.I do not want to overcall this truck or undercall it. Let the pictures and video tell the story.
AS everyones idea of what a classic unrestored daily driver truck should be is different, recommend that you come and inspect the truck or hire ebay to do a independant inspection for you before bidding. I require a 500 dollar non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auction end. If I do not get the deposit within the time frame or before you come for the truck, will assume you are a dreamer or a scammer and not serious about buying it. I can recommend shippers I have used in the past who have been very reasonable. If you have any questions at all, lease call 563 568 1182 or 563 568 5111. Thanks and have fun bidding on this very unique and rare Chevy 5 window 1/2 ton truck!
