Cadillac Other 1940 Description
1940 Cadillac LaSalle Coupe 50 series, old new, on Lee Cadillac Los Angeles, ar has never been titled outside of California. Car was put in storage in 1967, his is NOT a frame off restoration only restored where needed. Reluctantly I am going to have to sell this car. Let's get to the needs of the car etc..1. Car comes with extra engine, umbers matching, ot running. Engine in car is a 1941 Cadillac engine, uns perfect, xtremely low mileage2. Front Wiring harness was removed to be replaced (75 year old wiring was getting brittle) complete new wiring harness (expensive) is included in the sale3. Complete new brake set, omplete is included in the sale as well. brakes need to be re-done4. Hubcaps are correct 16 inch but have a 1940 Cadillac medallion, ar came with 1938 LaSalle hupcaps and I did not like them.5. This car has NO NO NO rust issues6. Car comes with CLEAR California title7. Car comes with two matching 1940 California plates, nd one California plate from the early 1960's believed to be the last time the car was driven on the streets.8. Correct original radio was working, ow only humms9. Tires brand new10. Paint job is more than I care to say how much I paid for it, xtremely time consuming and expensive.11. Interior is almost perfect, ome light switch was not working, ut I have it in a box that will come with the car.12. running board rubber is old and cracking and missing completely in some areas, unning board metal is as SOLID as a rock NO rust13. Exhaust muffler is old, nd will need replacing14. Remember this is a 75 year old car, ence as is, f you are serious I will gladly talk to you and give you more details,The engine in the car is almost identical to the 1940 extra engine, ut from my research is a better Cadillac engine in 1941, ou can only tell the difference by looking at the serial number. Once the brakes are done and wiring harness replaced, would not hesitate to drive this car back to California!Transmission and clutch has been rebuilt.Like I said I am reluctantly selling this car, ircumstances are pushing that issue. The new buyer is going to get a great rare, xtremely nice Cadillac LaSalle coupe. Please any questions email me, uyer to pay ALL shipping cost, omplete balance must be paid before car leaves my property. Balance MUST be paid within 7 days NO exceptions. Do not ask me what my reserve is, f you want the car bid on it. My reserve is below fair market value. Buyer will be getting a great car, hat needs some minor work to be ready for the road again. On Aug-06-15 at 06:43:24 PDT, eller added the following information:
Due to the huge amount of emails, nd me repeating myself constantly.. here is the information on the car that I was able to verify
The car was purchased new by a man who lived in Glendale California, ccording to a family member of the original owner whom I was able to contact after extensive research, he original owner loved this car. The Cadillac LaSalle spent it's entire road life in that area of Los Angeles. And he continued to drive this car until 1967 when the car was having problems over heating, he owner had the radiator cleaned etc.. at that time (verified thru stamps on the radiator and receipts etc..) He also had the water pump replaced at that time (more verified information), he car continued to over heat, t which time he parked that car, hinking he would get to it another time... well many many many years passed, hen the car passed onto another family member after his passing, he car continued to sit stored. Long story short, am a native Californian and when I verified it's location when sold new and the history of the car, soft spot in me wanted to bring this car back to the road again. After looking at the original engine and verifying that after sitting for 50 years the original engine would need to come out and have a complete rebuild. During this time I had access to a 1941 Cadillac series 63 engine extremely low mileage 51,000 that runs perfect, decided to put the 1941 Cadillac engine in the LaSalle (with of course a major tune and clean, his engine runs perfect!) Also had the clutch completely redone (may as well at this point) and transmission checked etc.. but at the same time keep the original motor with the car, n case someone particular about being exact as factory wanted to have it, t would be available. Hence, his car is being sold with the original numbers matching engine. But trust me the replacement looks exactly like the original but is a little better, n my humble opinion.
The interior is the original correct color, attern etc.. as the day it came out of the factory. The radio still has all the ''call letter's" pre set for stations for Los Angeles area, he original color of the car was gray, ut much darker originally.
All the body panels are correct and solid to the car as original, O rust,
I hope this answers more questions that seem to keep coming up. There again if you are serious and need to talk to me, will gladly talk with a serious buyers. My reserve is what the car should sell for, hat is all I am going to say on that, his is an auction. I will NOT give the car away, ut will sell at a fair price, have a tremendous amount of money and effort into this car, hich is a good thing for the next owner. My loss is the next owners gain
