Willys Gladiator Truck 1951 Description

This is a 1951 Willies Gladiator Rat Rod body mounted on a 1933 custom built Ford Frame. Frame was built by the Roadster Shop in Mundeline IL. This is an excellent starting point for a 33 Ford Project or just have fun with it the way it sets, r put some other body of your liking on it. Project was built in 2010.

All drive line and suspension components were new 7,500 miles ago. Chasses has a drop I beam axel with the traditional buggy leaf spring controlled by a Vega box. The front axle has So-Cal front brakes which simulated drum brakes but actually contain 4 piston disc brakes which are boosted. Radius rods are drilled and filled. Front axle has replica vintage 16” dirt track tires on steel rims from Wheel Vintique. Rear suspension is a 4 link system with QA1 coil over shocks. Rear axle has 18” replica vintage dirt track tires on steel rims from Wheel VIntique. Rear brakes are 10” Ford Drum brakes receiving their fluid from a boosted dual master cylinder. The engine is a ZZ4 350 Chevy Crate motor (350 HP, 00 foot pounds of torque) with an 850 CFM Edelbrock carb with a mechanical fuel pump. It has a Zoomy clutch with a hydraulic throw out bearing inside a heavy aluminum bell housing. Behind that is a TKO-700, speed transmission. Power is run through a Winters Quick Change V-8 rear currently with 3:72 gears. Fuel tank is a fuel cell. Cooling system has an aluminum radiator with an electric fan. Exhaust are custom Lake Style Headers with baffles and turn outs.

Gages are Stewart warner electric with the exception being the oil pressure gage which is mechanical. The speedometer is an electronic. Seats are aluminum bomber seats with Hooker clevis type harnesses. Wire harness is a quick wire system.

I built this project while my daughter was serving with the 32nd Red Arrow Brigade in Iraq. It is painted in a scheme to reflect that. It has a 7" chop. It also has 50 Cal. machine gun bullets (benign) mounted on Browning belting as a sun visor. It sports two (benign) hand grenades on the rear just for some attitude. The side glasshas cracks and takes some monkey motion to get it up and down. Everything works (with the exception of the side glass) including the wipers (however small they are).
The cockpit is snug, ut it was built for a 6"2" driver.
