Willys 1957 Description
Custom rock crawler. The frame is jointed so that the front and rear axles can articulate independently. This makes it very stable. Two seater. Chevrolet 305 small block V8 engine with Holley Pro-Jection. Dual transmissions, TH400/5-speed truck manual. 2-speed transfercase. 2 1/2 ton Rockwell axles with Yukon lockers. Dual beadlock humvee rims with nearly new 42" Super Swamper tires. 4 wheel disc brakes. 5 ton Ford steering gearbox. On-board welder. Top highway speed is about 40 MPH. The hood and grill are from a 1957 Willys wagon, so generally I'll tell people that that's what it is. This machine is as much at home in the hometown 4th of July parade as it is out on the tough trails. It's also a trophy winner at multiple local car shows. And our military veterans seem to love it. They'll ask, "so what kind of Army surplus vehicle is this"? I tell them that it's all homemade and hand built, but also built with an eye to paying respect to our veterans.
