Willys 1920 Willys-Overland Model 4 1920 Description
1920 Willys-Overland Model 4. Original flathead four cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual. Older restoration, but still shows well. Runs, drives and turns heads. Always one of the oldest at the car shows. The car was restored by my father and grandfather and has been in the family for over twenty years. I've been its caretaker for the last eight. Hate to see it go, but priorities change and finding someone who will appreciate and use/show the car is now the focus. What the car needs: *the wheels are wooden and either need to be repainted or need to be stripped and varnished. This should be evident in the wheel picture. *I keep a drip pan under the engine/transmission as they seep a little. I don't believe this is uncommon for a car this age and the leak is not terrible. Just an inconvenience that may need to be addressed. *There's a large area on the fuel tank (approximately 3"x3") where the paint is damaged. Not sure what the story is. It's been that way since I've had it. I assume improper paint prep. The good: As mentioned earlier, the car runs and drives good for something 96 years old! I attribute this to the mechanical simplicity of the older cars. Battery was replaced last fall and the car is always winterized each year. The carburetor was also gone through last fall. The interior is in excellent condition. The top and side curtains look new. Although the paint is now 20+ years old, it still shines nicely. In reality, it probably looks better than it did when new.
All things considered, the car is in great overall condition. The asking price is $17,000. Although I'm pretty firm on price, I'm more concerned about a good home for the car. I know that may be a bit cliché, but I truly want to find someone who will get some use out of it. Hate to see it sit. Please call with questions. Happy to fill in any details that I've missed or send additional pictures. Note: In an effort to appease ebay, I had to enter a title status. However, there is no title for the car. Never was on something this age.
