Willys Coupe 1941 Description
This 1941 Willys coupe is the veritable definition of overkill. The compact body has been stuffed with a blown 454, a snug-fitting custom interior, and an outrageous electric blue paint job with ghost flames.(See Pictures) IF you're out to get noticed, this is definitely the right car for you.
The 1941 Willys has the right look for a pro-street makeover. The body seems to be just barely big enough to contain the mechanics within, and with those teardrop shaped headlamps and electric shaver grille, there is no mistaking it for anything else on the road. The fiberglass body is beautifully finished, showing expert workmanship from every angle. With doors that fit flush and a modified hood t hat accommodates the oversized blower poking through it. The electric blue paint seems to glow from within like its radioactive or something. The ghost flames were done exactly right visible but subtle. Shaved door handles, trick side mirrors, and simple round taillights are the kinds of little details that add up to a big effect on the overall look. It is easy to see why this car is so popular.
There is actually more room inside than you would expect by looking at the coupe bodywork, and the deeply bolstered buckets make it easy to spend time in there for those long cruises. A tilt column with leather-wrapped billet wheel is a big improvement over the original Willys style bus steering. and the dash carries an array of easy to read gauges. Cool eyeball vents manage the airflow from the Vintage Air A/C system, whose controls are just above the AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the custom center console. A B&M shifter manages the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, and you will also note the speakers neatly installed on the sides of the console. The trunk has been upholstered in black carpet with neat bindings on the edges and embroidered "Willys" script on the bulkhead. Despite the massive wheel tubs, there is actually a decent amount of storage in there if you would care to take a long trip in this slick coup.
Better bring your liquid-cooled gas card with you when you go, because making big horsepower is what the blown 454 under the hood does best. The B&M 6-71 supercharger inhales through a pair of 750 CFM carbs and deliversRIGHT NOWthrottle response that will take some getting used to out on the street. Seriously, this thing makes full boost before you can get your foot on the floor, so make sure it is pointed where you want it to go before you stomp down on that pedal. It's also beautiful to look at with lots of chrome and polish aluminum, plus a compact accessory drive system that puts all the componentsin exactly the right place for theWilly's engine bay(See Pictures). The A/C uses R-134a refrigerant, so it's easy to service, and a BIG radiator upfront keeps everything cool so you don't have to worry about using it. The aforementioned TH350 transmission has obviously been heavily reinforced and spins a narrowed 9-inch hanging on a 4-link setup. Twin Flowmasters provide an awesome sound, and the traditional big-n-little combination is provided by 215/40/17 front and 345/55/17.
