Studebaker GT Hawk 1962 Description
Very nice 1962 GT Hawk. This car appears to havebeen a long time California car although the Production Order which I have a copy of indicates that the car was shipped to Tulsa, klahoma when new. Has rare factory T-10 four speed with factory A/C, nd 3:31 twin traction differential. Does not have power brakes or the full dash.
I have owned this car for six years. Since purchase I have had the transmission rebuilt as the T-10 has a propensity to pop out of second gear as they age. The clutch and pressure plate have been replaced, nd the flywheel resurfacedwith new starter ring gear installed. The brake system has been rebuilt including new wheel cylinders and flexible brake lines. New rear leaf springs by Eaton Detroit have been installed andwere made to the specifications of the heavy duty springs found on the Super Hawks. The front springs have been replaced with new heavy duty springs from Studebaker International. Four new gas shocks were installed. The shifter linkage has been rebuilt with new rebuild kit. There is a newer battery, il pressure relief valve, nd new driver side window regulator all professionally installed by Mike Myer.
This car appears to be essentiallyrust free with an older but still presentable paint job that has chips and age cracks. Trunk, eck lid, loor pans, oors, ood, nd fenders all appear to be in very solid condition. The interior appears to have been replaced at some point in the past with the carpeting, eat covers, nd other interior panels being in good to very good condition with no cracks or tears. The headliner appears to be original and has several small flaws. I have a new headliner that I will include uninstalled with the sale. I have installed new sun visors. All gauges and lightsare operable. The engine bay is very clean and the 289 4 bbl. runs very well.
All interior and exterior trim is intact. Chrome is not rusted or pitted but is worn thin from age and has minor scratching typical of 53 year old chrome. The car has a newer AM/FM radio. I have the original Studebaker AM radio that will be included uninstalled with this sale. I also have the production order as well as owners manual and accessories guide in the glove box.
As stated exterior paint is an older repaint in the original color. It is very presentable but is of driver, ot show quality. The weather stripping is also original and would benefit from installation of new. All glass is in good condition, o cracks or major scratching. I have stored car in heated and cooled garage under cover and have never driven in rain or snow for past six years. This car is anexceptionally nice driving car that would only require a repaintshould one desire.I have attempted to describe this car to the best of my ability and knowledge of the car based upon what I have repaired and upgraded over the past six years. Please feel free to ask any additional questions and thank you for looking! Please do not bid on this auction if you have no intention of buying the car. I have dealt with this all too often lately. You will be reported to eBay if you win the auction and fail to follow through with the purchase. This Hawk deserves a good long term home. You may call with any additional questions at 330.705.1081. The reserve is set well below what I have in to the vehicle and it would be difficult to replicate for less that $11,000.00
