Studebaker Silverhawk 1957 Description
1957 Studebaker Silverhawk -NO reserve
This was one of my dads favorite cars but the time has come for it to have a new home
BODY: Overall the exterior is in good condition-there is a noticable scratch on the drivers door-The grill work and bumpers are in great shape-some of the window trim is scratched up-Older repaint and color change but still looks good-does have some scratches and chips. Original color was white. There is some rust in the front floor pans but nothing serious-the worst place is in the trunk where the drivers side body mount is, see photos
Engine: 289 V-8 4bl-Engine was replaced out of a 1962 GT Hawk and was supposedly rebuilt but the oil pressure drops when it warms up and there is a noise-For that reason it was never driven after installed-dad wanted to pull the engine back out and find the problem but it never happened. The radiator-water pump-starter-generator were all rebuilt/replaced at this time as well.
Trans:3Spd O/D trans was removed and rebuilt in 2002 after a problem with the overdrive-the trans worked perfectly
Interior: Interior is not stock and was custom installed but still looks ok. The carpet doesn't fit well and the drivers kick panel is missing. All the gauges work as they should-the tachometer isn't correct and Ithink the steering wheel is not the original-if I can find the original it will go with the car
Wheels&Tires: Has older American Racing basket style wire wheels that still look okay-the radial tires are still ok but should be replaced due to age
Brakes: Brakes still function but should be inspected as its not been driven for years
Glass: All the glass is in good shape but the rear window seal is cracked and spilt-it will leak water
This car would be and easy one to work on and drive&enjoy or restore back to original. It will start and run for loading-unloading etc but I would advise looking into to engine issues before driving very much. I will awnser any question you have and be glad to provide additional photos-email or call/text Doug @816-678-3858. I work odd hours so i won't be able to respond after 7pm CST, but I will get back to you.
Thanks for looking, Doug
