Studebaker Champion 1951 Description
1951 Studebaker Champion Regal convertible. Runs and drives great, needs restoration. Flat head six cylinder engine, three speed manual transmission with overdrive. The overdrive is intact, but not working. The engine runs well, and the clutch seems to be in good shape. The leather interior needs full restoration, but at least is all original (and complete) to start with. Wipers, lights and spotlight are working, radio does not. The electrical system is still 6 volt, and is working. Tires are at least 40 years old, with portawalls. It would need work before it's ready to tour. The body has been re-painted at least once, long ago. It's very straight, and appears to have had very minimal rust repair. Underneath, it has rust in the cowl crossmember frame rail, and in each side of the rocker boxes. Everything behind the wheels, trunk floor, inner wheel wells, fenders, etc., all looks good. All of the fenders, hood and trunk appear to be very straight, and not with lots of body filler. There appears to have been minor rust repair around the side cowl vents. The stainless steel rocker trim strip not shown that belongs on the passenger side is included (and is in good condition). The convertible top is not torn, but is very old. The top frame is in working order, but not the top motor. The plastic rear window is yellowed. The windshield and side glasses are all good. This is a great neighborhood cruiser that never fails to turn heads, and I encounter plenty of people all the time who have never seen a real "bullet nose" Studebaker. And if you're going to own a Studebaker, a bullet nose convertible is the one. It's located in St. Louis, Missouri, and in person inspection is welcome and encouraged. Factory service manual included. The deposit is fully refundable upon personal inspection. The BIN price is substantially below Hagerty's online valuation of $16,300 for this car in #4 condition. I am a 100% positive feedback ebay seller for more than 16 years. Thanks for looking.
