Studebaker Studebaker Erskine 1928 Description
Up for auction is this ultra-rare and extremely low miles (17,935) 1928 Studebaker 'Erskine". This model was made for 4 years to commemorate Albert Erskine who was the president of the Studebaker Motors at that time. The car is mostly all original. The car has the original 'Continental' flatheadsix engine with 3 speed on the floor along with a manual transmission. It starts up every time on the first revolution. No smoking at any time. It idles smoothly and runs cool. The tranny shifts smoothly and effortlessly. The clutch has excellent pull with no chattering. The body of the car is solid with no rust anywhere from top to bottom &with no dents or patchwork. The car was painted about 40 yrs ago giving it excellent patina along with red pinstriping. The tires are slightly checked, ut never have had to add air & good tread. The doors, ood, runk all open and close up nicely. The glass is all good with exception of drivers side door glass will need replacing. I may or may not have replaced that by the end of the auction. The car has wooden spoke wheels that are in excellent shape and are 100% tight with no issues. The brakes work good. The headlights, aillights, ipers all work. The speedo works. The oil pressure reads 40# at startup and 30# after warmed up. The gas gauge is corroded a bit and does not work. The small needles is missing from the amp meter.. I am not sure if the interior is the original or not., owever, t is very nice condition. The seat upholstery along with door and kick panels are in great shape with no rips or tears. The headliner is intact, ut not quite as nice at rest of interior, owever is intact. The rumble seat is in great condition also. The chrome bumpers are in nice shape. This car has an option I have never seen on any car before - that beinga dual toolbox/battery box mounted into the front fenders.I did someresearch and indeed found images that show these boxes original from the factory. This is a verycool option and very handy. The car also has all 4 original hubcaps and the original dogbone/motometer hood ornament! You could look far and wide and never find a rare time-capsule such as this with low miles. To find one this solid and rust free is a super find. Look over the pictures and bid with confidence. This is your opportunity to own a car that no one else at the car show will have. A non-refundable $500 deposit is due within 24 hours of the end of the auction to Paypal.
