This car has had a wonderful "life". Originally delivered to a California Studebaker dealer it was apparently traded-in on a new car in 1964. It was then purchased by the present owner's grandfather whodrove and maintained the car in California until the early 90's at which point he journeyed here to Long Island New York. He passed-on shortly after his arrival and the car has been kept in the same garage (and hardly ever used) for the past twenty-four years. Other than re-covered front bucket seats the car appears to be all-original. It drives nicely shiftingand accelerating well with excellent straight-line braking.

• This is a good solid classic car which can beused as a daily-driver (with a little bit of work; see below); or it can be the solid base for a full restoration;or it could become a very desirable resto-mod/sleeper.
• The paint (all original)is practically scratch-free and would shinenicely withsome compounding and polishing.
• The overhead-valve six-cylinder engine pulls well but a V8 (such as a 289 cubic inch Studebaker engine) would be an easy modification.
• The sheet metal is virtually perfect except for a very minor bit of damage to the front apron.
• The all-original chrome and other brightwork is in fair condition and would benefit from some cleaning and polishing to bring it up to a higher level.
• Yes it does appear that the right side of the front bumpercaught on something. It could be straightened or easily replaced.
• The exhaust system appears intact and in usable condition other than the rear-most tailpipe section.
• The rear seat upholstery and the windlace are in poor condition. These items are (believe it or not) readily available at surprisingly low cost.
• NADA currently values average '62 Daytonas at $11950. The reserve on this car is far below that figure.

To sum it up: This is a great car with a low reserve price which offers an opportunity to enter the vintage/classic car hobby with a minimum investment.
