Studebaker Pickup 1953 Description
1953 Studebaker 2R6 1/2 Ton Pickup This is a great American Classic pickup! There are so many ways these trucks look awesome!! This truck is complete and would make a great restoration project with very little effort. It would also look great as a streetrod - the roof line from the factory already gives the illusion of being chopped!!! Either way. this would be a great truck to drive and work on at the same time. It is my intent to represent this truck as well as I can. but I definitely encourage you to look closely at the photos and contact me via eBay message board with any questions you have. This is a solid Montana truck with a clear Montana title. I will also issue a notarized bill of sale on Montana DMV forms. ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/DRIVE-TRAIN: In 1953. the majority of the 1/2Ton pickups produced by Studebaker Corporation were the 2R5 model - standard 6cyl engine. A small number of 1/2Ton pickups were produced with a larger CID 6cyl and labeled 2R6. This truck is one of the rare labeled 2R6s with all the appropriate tags and plates. It is missing the original engine. though. The larger HO 6cyl was replaced several years ago with an early 60's Studebaker Lark Bearcat 259CID V8 and automatic transmission. This engine is running and driving. It has new plugs. wires. cap rotor. fuel pump. starter. and gas line. The automatic transmission is also in working condition - I have been driving it around the block over the last couple of weeks to keep it limber. The original rearend is under the truck and is in good working order with no sign of issue. If you have access to an original 2R6 6cyl engine. this would be a great restoration. If you are more of a hot rodder. the fact that it is a Studebaker V8 makes it unique and consistantly Studebaker!! BODY/SHEET METAL/TRIM: The body and sheet metal of this truck are in great condition with VERY LITTLE rust. Built in South Bend. IN and prominant in the Midwest and East Coast. these trucks are typically found with a good deal of rust - cab corners. floors. fenders. etc. It is important to note that. even though Montana is a winter state. we have a very dry climate and do not use salt on our winter roads. The money spent in shipping this truck from Montana will be money saved in the body shop!! The cab corners. floors and rockers are VERY SOLID! There is a small amount of rust on the upper portion of the driver's front fender where the fender incurred some damage and began to surface rust. The steel is solid with a few pin holes - this is very repairable and would not require a new fender. There is a small portion of rust - about the size of a golf ball - on the lower portion of the front passenger fender. Again. this is very repairable and would not require a new fender. The rear fenders are there and in good condition with only a few minor dents and dings. The front fenders. save for the small amount of rust I described. are in good condition with only a few minor dents and dings. The grille is complete and in good condition. The box is in good condition and the floor is free from any rust. The front bumer is there. but the rear is missing. New front turn signals/marker lights and new tail lights have been installed and work well. The headlights are there and complete. although they are not currently working - could be as simple as a fuse. INTERIOR/GLASS: The interior of this truck is complete - seat. door handles. door panels. window cranks. dash. etc. and in working order. The glass is in good condition. although the driver's door glass is broken. Missing parts include. but may not be limited too: original hub caps and hood emblems. This truck is being sold in "as-is. "where-is" condition. No warranty/guarantee - written or implied - exists with this truck. This truck has a clear Montana Title and I will also issue a notarized bill of sale. Transportation of this vehicle is the sole responsibility of the buyer. Payment in full must be received before the truck will be released for transportation. The truck must be picked up for transport within 30 days of auction close. Cash or Certified Check is the preferred method of payment to avoid additional fees. Any portion of the transaction conducted via PayPal will be subject to an additional 5% fee.
