Pontiac Firebird 1976 Description
I am selling my 1976 Firebird Formula 400 4 speed car to pursue a new project. I purchased this car two years ago in mostly the same condition you see in the pictures except that the interior was out of the car. I have installed a new headliner, carpet and door/window weatherstripping as well as nice used black interior panels and seats. This car has been a blast to drive and has been very reliable during the time I have owned it. The car has its numbers matching original 400 Pontiac engine that was rebuilt nearly 30 years ago with a Crower Street Beast cam (per the previous owner). It has a 4150 series Holley 700 double pumper and an early Offenhauser manifold. I received the original carb and manifold with the car when I purchased it and I intend to include them in the sale at this time in case the next owner wants to completely return the car to stock. The car starts, runs, stops and handles quite well. The car was restored/repainted many years ago and could use a new paint job. Also, there were some floor patches added by a previous owner that could have been done with more care that should probably be replaced before investing in a paint job. I have included pictures of the patch job done in the trunk. There are only these two areas in the trunk, the rest is solid and clean. The only rust issues I have seen on the exterior of the car are in the lower rear door edges. These areas appear to have had a patch welded and bondoed in place. The weld job can be seen from the inside of the door and there is a visible wave in the rear lower corner of each door where the earlier bodywork had been done. There are no other areas with noticeably bad body work on the exterior of the car, so an investment in door skins or replacing the doors before painting should result in an otherwise solid body. The only other issues I know about are that not all of the dash lights work and the valve cover gaskets have leaked since I installed the new chrome valve covers. I will include the original valve covers with the car.
I have looked high and low and have found very few second generation F body 4 speed cars in this condition in this price range.I am selling this car with the hopes of raising funds to purchase a Model A roadster. I would be open to trades up or down toward an early Ford steel roadster if anyone has one.The car is listed locally, so I need to reserve the right to end this auction early. My reserve price is lower than the buy it now price. Feel free to call or text me at 262-993-3481 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 10:00 PM CST.
