Pontiac Bonneville 1963 Description
1963 Pontiac Bonneville 4 Door Hard Top Vista One owner, purchased new in February 1963. Body Style: Four door hard top sedan (no center posts supporting the roof between the front and rear side door windows) Power Train: 389 cu.in. Pontiac valve in head V8 engine. This is a rebuilt engine that replaced the original engine that had been rebuilt two times and had nearly 400,000.00 miles on it. Original four speed and reverse super hydromatic automatic transmission that has been rebuilt three times. Differential is a replacement for the original which was installed when the owner thought it had a problem. It did not, and the original is available as a spare part. Car has factory installed power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. Car also has aftermarket installed venetian blind type rear window sun protection and aluminum shades for the four side windows. Easy to remove. Also, has aftermarket installed cruise control, a three instrument auxillary engine condition unit, and a digital clock. Last operated in 2008. Had what was probably a minor ignition system problem and a transmission reverse problem that owner never got repaired. Current odometer reading is 59213.8 miles on an instrument that reads a maximum of 99,999.9 miles before it rolls over to 00,000.0 miles. Based on my records, the car actually has a mileage reading of 459,213.8 miles. Condition: Body is basically sound with some reservations. There is some rust through at the lower sides of both front and rear quarter panels. There is rust at the lower edge of the rear window which has caused a stainless steel moulding strip to come loose on the passenger side. There is rust in the water drain channel for the trunk lid. Also, there has been rust through in the trunk floor with has been repaired with a galvanized steel overlay, and the gas tank has a least one small leak from rust. Body has original grill and all of the trim mouldings. Due to significant damage caused by a read end collision when the car was only a few years old, part of the rear body area had to be replaced. After market metal and rubber trim moulding has been added along both sides of the car to protect against paint dings from other car doors. Obviously, the car needs restoration. Interior: Overall good condition. Back deck and top of dash kept covered to protect from sun. Seats in good condition--need to be cleaned. Inside door panels show tearing at top--see photo. Light rust on dash. Extras: Shop manual and assorted spare parts. Payment: Certified Cashier's Check, wire transfer,Money Order from US Bank Only or Cash. |
