Pontiac Fiero 1988 Description
This is a clean 88 Fiero GT 5 speed that I have owned since 2008. I purchased it with approx 37k miles and it has just under 52k miles now. I will be as honest as exacting as I can in the description of the car. Exterior: When purchased the car still had the original GT+4 tires on the front although they were very hard and fairly well worn out. It has a nice set of Goodyears on it now. The paint and clearcoat look very nice and it is very hard to tell if it has been repainted or not. Based on the age I suspect it was and if so they did quite a good job masking or removing trim/weatherstrip. I had the rear spoiler done last summer as it was starting to loose it's clearcoat. There are a few stone chips up front but overall it looks very nice. The wheels were originally the gold color ones but they have been refinished and changed to the optional factory black color. Interior: The interior is just as nice with the exception of the headliner. That has separated from the foam backing and needs to be replaced along with a recovering of the sunvisors for the same reason. The seats have no burns. wear marks and the same with the carpets. The original floor mats are gone but it has some embroidered Lloyds mats in it now. The factory low end AM/FM cassette was replaced with the factory AM/FM cassette with the EQ. I've also added the factory subwoofer that has been refoamed. It just needs the overhead console installed to control the sub (which I have). Factory options are the sunroof. power windows. mirrors. It does not have a rear defrost. The A/C is still R12 and does not hold a charge past a season. The sunroof visor is no longer usable as the foam inside it has deteriorated but I still have it along with the bag to store the sunroof when you remove it. The interior padded panels are starting to curl a bit at the edges as happens in most all Fieros. Drivetrain: The car start and runs fine and was only driven occasionally during the summer months. Winters it was in dry storage. Only modifications include a strengthening bracket on the alternator along with an idler pulley that reroutes the serpentine belt which allows more contact with the alternator. This is a common mod and prevents the belt from squealing on startup. I also have a lower temp fan switch but it has not been installed yet. The car is still a blast to drive even with it's limited power by today's standards and sounds just as nice as well. Always turns a lot of heads when you're out in it. Local buyers are welcome to stop by and have a look.
