Pontiac GTO 1964 Description
Selling mybeautiful numbers matching1964 GTO Convertible I purchased in 2011 in Oregon just after ithad been fully restored and is in the same pristine condition as then. Prior to the restorer's ownership, I was told it had been in California since it was built in Fremont CA in June of 1964 and was sold in Long Beach CA. The black California license plate that came with the car is included. Always garage kept and never driven in the rain. The original Silvermist colored paint, chrome, and stainless steel are in excellent condition, no rust, scratches or dents. The original black colored interior with it's bucket seats and chrome console are in excellent condition, as is the black coloredconvertibletop. The engine compartment is pristine and undercarriage is the sweetest looking I've ever owned. The 389 c.i. engine starts right up, takes off strong, and the 2 speed automatic transmission shifts smooth with apowerfulkick if you get on it. The brakes work great and have a new booster. The rear end is the original 3.23 gears.
The original4 bblcarburetor comes in a box, as well as a correct 1964 GTO Tri-power intake manifold and three 2 bbl carburetors, The installedEdelbrock 4 bblcarburetor is running great. PHS documents included (copy of original window sticker and factory build sheets). These documents confirm the numbers on the engine and transmission go with this VIN, thus making this California built car numbers matching. As does all the date codes I have checked. The correct Rally rims have replaced the original plain rims. The original and excellent condition hub cabs are included in a box. The kick panels have speakers installed.
The instrument cluster is all there and looks very nice, but does have some items not working, nor investigated. The odometer does not seem to workbut the speedometer does. The fuel gauge moves to full whenignition on, but not working. The radio does not come on when turned on. Clock does not work. There is a slow drip from the transmission and engine but no different than my other goats.
Included are the 1964 Chassis and Body Shop Manuals. Also included is a new car cover. Feel free to ask questions and to request specific pictures if you want. I will be adding a lot more pictures this week including shots of the car's VIN and Data plates, casting numbers, and date codes, as well as the extras mentioned above.
