Pontiac Catalina 1962 Description

This is a rare chance to own a piece of history. Looks to be a matching numbers car. This is a very solid car, ot many left. I saved the car from ending up being parted out or crushed. The following is a short list of work done to bring it back to life:
- Engine rebuilt (Totally) - Rebuilt transmission - New brakes and parts Brake lines Master cylinder booster
- Wheel cylinders - New dual exhaust, ront to back - New starter and solenoid - New battery
- New fuse panel, ome wiring - New drive shaft and joints - Replaced power window motor in back window
- New Front bumper $1,500. - Complete new interior $5,800. - Paint, rate at 5 footer
- Auxilliary fuel tank (if you elect to use, eeds line hooked up - I didn't feel it was necessary)
- Radio - not hooked up; I was going to install hidden after market
Have PHS on car.... Shows it was sold to Livingston Pontiac in California. If you look at the picture of transmission indicator, ou will see it is different. s N 4321 R p . It had a B & M transmission in car, hich was bad. I could not get it rebuilt.... too far gone parts not available anymore. This also leads to be a corporate-order production vehicle.
In 1962, ontiac sponsored safety Safari cars for NHRA. This also with these items point to this being one. It also had extra lights on rear quarter panels for towing.

FYI: Description of this car "per the previous owner":
"This car is supposed to be one of the NHRA's official tow vehicles from 1962? I have been trying to substantiate this without luck. I called the NHRA museum in California but no response at this time. This car is fairly solid! Nice floors, ll original sheet metal, eeds some love. The right rear door has some cheezy repair on the corner as pictured. Somebody started a resto but quit on it. The dash is out as is the ignition that I do have. I believe I have all of the removed parts in my shop from inside the car. This is a fairly well optioned car 389 4bbl, s, b, nd ac. The frame looks to be excellent as does most of the sheet metal and all glass is here, indow cranks, andles etc. I am sure this car would be somebodies dream just not mine.
The motor spins and has compression and was told from seller he did have it running with an electric fuel pump and portable fuel tank. One of the tires blew on the tow over and will be replaced but I am sure the person interested in it has other plans for wheels and tires. This also has another fuel tank mounted in the right rear quarter as pictured with aftermarket gas cap and has old school tow setup which all in all makes me want to believe the NHRA thing with long travel and lack of gas stations back in the day."

I have described this car to the best of my ability. It is Rock Solid!
One other thing, t this time, HRA does not hgave all of the photos of this time period on computer yet. There could possibly be a picture, but you would have to investigate.
