Pontiac Trans Am 1978 Description

The motor is The Rocket w33 code 455 ci factory rated at 390hp and 500 ft lbs torque out or a 1970 Olds delta 88 police pursuit package F block and E heads along with the th400 built to handle the torque. This set up is very rare and very hard to find if anybody would even sell it. The mileage on the drive terrain is unknown but the motor was rebuilt before it was installed in the TA and hasn't seen many miles at all(Sunday cruzer). If you do any research on these pre 71 rocket motors they are built to last forever. The valve seats are hardened also to help with the life of the motor. They were also designed to run on 93 octane so I always use an additive. I have also added a new edlebrock 4bbl carb and a highflow aluminum intake. The fuel pump is brand new maybe 5 miles on it along with all new fuel lines and filter. Oil has been changed religiously. The car sat for 12 years in a garage where I bought it about a year ago. I don't have the time or money to finish the car so Im selling it to somebody who will. I have a toddler and a newborn and they take up all the time and money. Its a very good start to a very powerful car all of the hard work is done and this baby can be driven daily if you wanted to. Mechanically the car is very sound and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it across the US if I could get a loan for the fuel it would take. The trans shifts very nicely and the motor runs very well. At idle it lopes a bit with the big w33 cam sounds awesome. At the moment it is straight piped and has a low rumble its not terribly loud but will wake the neighbors I do have a set of mufflers that I will throw in the trunk for you. I have another set of t-top that were used when the car was painted so they would need to be stripped but they are good for partsIve got 2 extra sets tail lights and bezels and 1 extra left front grill. I also have the original small spare with the air canister never usedIt will need a remote res power steering pump installed. it steers fine now but it would be nice to have the power back. brakes are great all the way around. the heater blower motor is burned up and will need to be replaced. The paint is newer but is not the best paint job there are a couple small sags and dust in the paint but its a good 10 footer. all of the trim around the glass was painted satin black and is in near perfect condition. the windshield is cracked but the rest of the glass is goodthe T-tops are in great shape and I haven't seen any leakesthe interior will need some work but its just sun damage not abusestill has the original cb radio built in to the indash radio as well as the equalizer below it. It all is still functioning but will need new speakers around. Tires and wheels are in great shape tires are at 70% tread front and rear. Wheels are the original staggered set up 10's in back 8's up frontThis car is in no way perfect and will need much TLC but it runs and drives perfect and is incredibly fast and rides smooth as a cady. There is just a little rust under the fenders and quarters but not bad at all. its all about the size of a nickel and unnoticeable unless you get under the car.
