Pontiac Fiero 1987 Description
While we are never going to tell you this 1987 Pontiac Fiero is a genuine Ferrari, you have to admit, you get a very complete kit for the money. And beneath the classic Italian copycat are some great features like a fully independent suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and the desirable fuel-injected V6 upgrade. So while you are intrigued by the appearance, you'll be pleasantly surprised by the performance.Where it was a bit easier to turn a Fiero into a Ferrari 308, it takes a lot more time and effort to create a good Testarossa. This one really gets all the details right with the low/flat hood, side slats that flow through the doors, and correct badging. Plus, the way the doors have that sweeping action that merges with the rear fender to create the iconic long and wide tail is absolutely an artful stroke that takes a real investment to re-create. Even the iconic five-star wheels have been replicated for that added dash of flash. So while you might spot arears that are not up to Italian exotic standards, the overall presentation has some very impressive pieces.Inside, we are again impressed by how much was done to replicate the Testarossa. The bucket seats, panels, and even the side mirrors are all more Ferrari than Pontiac. The Fiero's more humble roots are almost completely erased, which is a rarity on these replicas. As you can see from the pictures, there is room for improvement inside. But still nothing beats the feeling of a grippy three-spoke sports steering wheel in your left hand and a stick shift for your right one. The fuel-injected 2.8-liter V6 is the upgraded power package for the Fiero. It was a very welcomed addition in the Pontiac because of the way it can move the lightweight fiberglass body and the same applies for fiberglass replica cars, too. In fact, it can even almost earn its Ferrari badging with the factory bright red intake manifold and matching valve covers. When paired with the optional five-speed manual transmission, you can genuinely enjoy this droptop replica like it's a real exotic. And we bet you'll never miss a real Ferrari thanks to great performance features like the fully independent suspension, power steering, four-wheel disc brakes, and the modern grip of Goodyear Eagle tires. This one would already be a lot of fun for the money even if it wasn't out to look like a Ferrari.
