Pontiac Fiero 1985 Description
I have owned this car since 2008 and completed the restoration in 2010. The VIN is 1G2PF3798FP244440.
The restoration includes: A 2004 3.8 super charged engine taken from a Grand Prix. It has a six speed Automatic Transmission that could be made to tap shift with the right electronic knowledge. At the time of the engine replacement there was no hack for the security and the car has two keys, the engine still thinks that it is in a Grand Prix.
The car has had all of the panels off and the rust repaired with new steel. Most of the suspension parts have been power coated. It has new adjustable Struts, new front shocks, poly bushings and rack and pinion.
It has 17” wheels and Corvette brakes. This means that the standard donut spare will not fit over the brakes so there is a carpeted space under the hood.
The body has custom scopes on the side and back lid plus vents in the hood. The door handles and side trim have been shaved resulting in very clean body lines. The paint is a medium Red ( an orginal Fiero color) but the clear has been sanded and polished for great finish. Accents were added behind the front wheels with a few drops of black in the same red paint.
The interior has been redone with new carpet, seat covers by Mike, new headliner and radio/cd player. The Odometer and other instruments are from another car and have glowing dials. Since the conversion I have driven it less than 4000 miles, mostly to car shows. The engine was advertised as having less than 35,000 miles on it.
I have not put a smaller pulley on the SC or put on a computer tune. This car will push you back in the seat to get you up to speed and doing more is like asking for a speeding ticket. This 3.8 with the correct tune and a new cam could push 500 hp.
Problem items:
The air conditioning needs a recharge every spring and I have not been able to find a leak. The wide tires add to the bump steer problems that all Fieros have. The O2 sensor has been removed for the computer and the car does not have a catalytic converter, if you live in a state that requires emissions test you will have to do some work on the exhust.
I have over $12,000 in just parts in this car, that’s nothing for labor or the stiches I needed when a spring compressor slipped. This car is a steal at $6000. I am moving and don’t have the room in the new house for this car. Sbarker47@gmail.com
