Pontiac Bonneville 1965 Description
Often referred to as the "Banker's GTO", you are bidding on a fully restored 1965 Pontiac Bonneville 2 door sports coupe. Two year restoration was completed between 2001 and 2003 with restoration receipts of $21,000. Less than 4000 miles since restoration. Finished in factory original Blue Charcoal paint, code BB with black interior. Equipped with the famous GTO power plant, 389 cubic inch, 338 horsepower,tri-power, 3 x 2 Bbl carburetors that could be ordered for a Bonneville. Perfectly tuned, primarily powered by the center 2 barrel until you decide to actuate the 2 additional carbs with a push of the accelerator. Options include factory air with new compressor using R-134 freon, power steeringand brakes, dual speed windshield wipers, soft ray glass, removable rear fender skirts, special ride and handling package, safe-t-track rear axle, and turbohydra-matic transmission. Also features optional seat belts, Pontiac mats, and removable trunk lamp. The trunk is equipped withtrunk mat, spare tire mat, and includes a brand new spare that has never hit the ground. All new interior with upgraded aftermarket Electro-tech classic AM/FM stereo made to fit into factory dash with no modifications and two Jensen stereo speakers in rear. Real mahogany dash stripped and refinished and all interior chrome in excellent condition. All gauges work except clock which works intermittently. Part of restoration included new carpet, new seat cushions with custom seat foam, new headliner, package tray, door panels, and kick panels. Exterior paint and trim in very good condition with only rear tail light surround showing some pitting (see photo). The special order lucite clear steering wheel is in rare to find, terrific condition. Good thing as restoration of this special steering wheelcan cost up to $1500. This wide-track Pontiac design has a 124 inch wheelbase and rides and handles like a dream. Purchase of car comeswith all restoration receipts, Pontiac Historic Society (PHS) documentation, original marketing materials, and photos of portions of the restoration. This car was manufactured in Kansas City plant and has been in the Memphis area much of it's life. Car was shown at Hot Rods on Beale Street and received a lot of attention due to the rarity of these classic Pontiac cars in this condition, particularly withtri-power 389. Bid with confidence as reserve is much less than restoration costs alone. Another similar 1965 Bonneville is for sale locally for almost double my reserve and it does not havetri-power or air conditioning.
