Plymouth GTX 1967 Description
1967 Plymouth GTX!
1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX
Original 440 Engine along with a 426 Max Wedge Engine!
You are viewing a privately owned 1967 Plymouth Belvedere GTX!
Classic Cars Online is helping the owner with the presentation and listing of this outstanding vehicle.
You will be purchasing this vehicle directly from the private owner who has owned this vehicle for the last 14 years.
Remember growing up and building those 1:25th scale Revell models? A lot of those models came with an option of building the vehicle two different ways. Pure stock, or as a Super Stock racer. This vehicle is like that. It is currently built in its "Super Stock" version with a rare 426 Max Wedge engine. The owner has all the correct original items/parts that were removed so that the car can be put back to its original stock form. (Example: Original 440 engine, tock hood, riveshaft, etc..) This is a very solid, ust free GTX that is extremely clean and is ready for any car show. It is also a great vehicle to take out and have fun with at the track. Best of both worlds.
Please read and view all of the 108 pictures listed in the photo gallery.

Would you buy a car on eBay with four pictures and one paragraph of description? NO.
That is why at Classic Cars Online, ur listings will go over and show every area of the vehicle that is up for auction. Description Written by the Owner.
Body & Paint: The paint on this GTX is Alpine White, hich is the correct factory color for this car. (Plymouth paint code: WW1) The car has been repainted once in its original color with base coat/clear coat type paint, do not know when. The paint is in excellent condition with a deep shine. There is no checking, ading, scratches, r orange peel. The body is laser straight with no chips, ents, r dings. This is a solid, ust free car originally from Virginia. It still retains all its original body panels and sheet metal. There are no patches or body filling on the vehicle. Car is finished with the correct Navy Blue GTX stripes. A custom made fiberglass Hemi type hood is currently installed on the car. The original stock GTX steel hood goes along with the car. Remember, very original part that was removed to make this vehicle look like a "Super Stock" racer will go along with the sale of the vehicle. The car can be put back to the factory look very easily. Nothing was cut or done to hurt the original make-up of the vehicle. The body panels have the correct alignment and gaps. The weather-stripping is in excellent condition.
Chrome & Trim: All the chrome and stainless steel trim pieces are in very nice condition. The stainless is straight and polished. Front and rear bumpers were re-chromed by Bumper Boy’s. All of the bright work such as the front grill, eadlight bezels, ear tail panel and tail lights housings are in excellent condition. The chrome turn signal indicator lights a top of front fenders are in excellent working condition. The lower stainless steel rocker panel moldings are new from Year One. All of the wheel opening moldings are original and are in near perfect condition with no dings or dents.
Interior: The dark Navy Blue interior is in excellent condition. (Correct factory color. Code: P6B) I had both front bucket seats redone. New seat covers and foam from Legendary Interiors. The dash bezels were already re-chromed with new lenses by the previous owner. New door panels are also from Legendary. I had the optional wood grain steering wheel restored by Gary’s Steering Wheel Restoration in Carlisle, A. The top of the driver’s door, hich is painted above the panel, as small spiders cracks in paint. The dash pad, eadliner, ackseat and carpet are all in excellent condition. There is auto-gauge water temp, il pressure, olt meter gauges under the dash. Auto gauge tachometer mounted on top of dash. The mounting bracket was fitted under dash pad so no holes were drilled into original dash. A transmission oil temp. gauge is mounted on left side of steering column. There is a line lock button mounted on column shifter with red indicator light under dash. A fuel pressure gauge is mounted on cowl outside of car in front of the windshield. Again, o holes were drilled, here is a plate under vent ribs holding the gauge to cowl. It has a column shift with reverse pattern, anual shift. A new custom designed and machined shift plate was installed inside the steering column to make this a slap-stick automatic on the column. You can only hit one gear at a time, ool proof. Pretty cool.
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is fully detailed and very clean, how ready. The engine bay is finished correctly with the Alpine White body color which is correct for Mopar. It has the correct 4 core large radiator. Currently sitting under the hood is an eye catching 426 Max Wedge power plant. The original factory 440 engine also goes along with the sale of the vehicle. For more information about both of these engines, lease see the "Mechanical" section listed below.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment is clean and detailed which still retains its original trunk floor pans. The stock trunk mat is in excellent condition. There is no jack or spare tire currently installed.
Glass: The windshield was replaced since I owed the car. The vent and side windows are in very good condition. The windows roll up and down with easy and no problems. The original rear window is nice, ut does have a few small fine scratches.
Wheels & Tires: The wheels were special ordered from American Wheels and are in new condition. Fronts are 15x4 inch "Torq Thrust". The backs are 15x8 inch Torq Thrust with spun aluminum polished outer rings. (NOT cast.) The wheels have a dark gray center mag with polished aluminum center caps. The front tires are 7.10x15 Moroso Drag Specials 28.5 inch tall. The rear tires are 28 x 10.50-15 M/T Street ET’s. All four tires are in excellent condition. The original wheels do not go along with the sale.
Undercarriage: The complete under carriage and frame is painted black. Remember, his is a very solid original rust free vehicle. The floor pans are still original. The area where the torsion bars tie in the frame is perfect. Frame strengthening connectors were installed by Kenny Kennedy, licensed frame builder and welder from Mogadore, Ohio. No more twisting and torquing of this unibody structure.
Nine times out of ten, eople selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, hat is why there are a few pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all.
Mechanical:
Engine:
The engine currently in the vehicle is a rear deal 426 C.I./557 H.P. "Max Wedge" with true Max Wedge cylinder heads and cross-ram intake manifold. Running a pair of new Edelbrock Performer series carburetors (750 cfm each). The engine was completely rebuilt, lue printed, nd balanced by "Larry Shepard’s Automotive Engine-ering" out of Akron, hio. (He keeps detailed records on file of all his builds.) He also went through and blue printed both Edelbrock carburetors to match the characteristics of the engine. It has a Comp cam with a .555 Lift and a 295 Duration. Harland Sharp roller rocker arms with 1.6 ratio. 11.5-1 forged aluminum pistons, anley H-beam rods, luidampr harmonic damper, SD Blaster coil with electronic ignition. Powermaster chrome high output alternator and voltage regulator. There are only about 300 miles on the engine since it was built. The car runs great on the street mixing Sunoco Cam Two 110 octane and premium 93 pump fuels.
The original 440/375 H.P. numbers matching engine also goes along with the car. That 440 motor was rebuilt by the previous owner. It was in the vehicle when I bought it and it ran very well.
Transmission:
The transmission is the original automatic "Torque Flight 727" that was completely rebuild and upgraded by Larry Shepard's Automotive. TCI Reverse pattern manual shift valve body, 800 stall 9 inch torque converter. Billet aluminum front drum with retainer, olt in sprag, nstalled 277 first gear. Deep aluminum finned oil pan. Also has transmission oil cooler. 7 quart Milodon deep oil pan.
Rear End:
Original Plymouth 8.75 inch rear end. Upgraded to a 4:10 Richmond gear set. New posi. clutch pack. New axle bearings (Green bearing) Chrome Moly Driveshaft by OVC Industries with Mopar 1350-29 Spline Slip Yoke and billet Mopar 8.75-10 Spline Yoke for rear end. Using heavy duty 1350 Dana U-Joints Lakewood pinion snubber. (Adjustable)
Brakes:
The brakes are in good condition with no problems. The master cylinder, heel cylinders, rake shoes, nd front stainless brake lines were all replaced by previous owner. Chrysler used the larger police interceptor drums on these GTX cars. They measure 11x3 inch. They stop the car very well. The brakes do not squeal, ade, ull or pulsate.
Suspension:
The suspension is working as intended. The front shocks are adjustable and are set at 90/10. It have heavy duty rear shocks, oth sets are made by KYB. Super Stock Mopar rear leaf springs. Lakewood pinion snubber on rear end. This combination works very well to plant the tires to the pavement. I do have photos with the car pulling the front wheels 1 to 2 inches.
Exhaust:
The exhaust system starts out with Hooker Super Comp ceramic coated headers. These headers feed into an aluminized 2.5 inch dual exhaust system with cross-over pipe. Two chamber Flowmaster mufflers flow into the tailpipes that have the factory type oval tips, xcept these tips are stainless steel.
Shows/Awards: This car truly stands out as an old Super Stock factory drag car from the 60’s. It has won numerous awards at local shows. It has been to the Steel Valley Nationals as well as the Blue Suede Cruise in Norwalk, hio. This car has been kept in heated and climate controlled storage area ever since I owned it. (The odometer cable is not connected, ut there are only a few hundreds more miles on the vehicle and the Max Wedge engine since the restoration.) This rare blue printed Max Wedge engine with the true Max Wedge cylinder heads and cross-ram intake manifold is a huge added value. (That engine alone is worth over $10k.)
Again, very original stock part that the owner has removed from the vehicle will go along with the sale. The owner has tried very hard not to cut, rill or modify any item on the car so that it could be taken back to a pure stock, umbers matching '67 GTX with around 90,000 miles.
