Plymouth Fury 1966 Description
440 Engine ( originally 383 ) runs and drives... I drive it to work twice a week... This is originally a fire engine red 383 stick shift car ( on the floor ) don't know if it was 3 or 4 speed because it had an automatic when I got it. This car is 51 years old and it knows it and shows it..... I'm not going to list everything that it needs, just the things you wouldn't expect....I've tried to list the good and the bad... There are prettier cars out there but you're not going to get a running and driving Big Block Mopar convertible for this price... Whether you're searching for a rat rod or you're a dreamer/mechanic, this could be right for you.
I bought this car in 1994 and as you might have guessed, I don't do interiors or body work... This car has been maintained mechanically to the point that I could drive it anywhere anytime...
Here's the list of everything significant that has been done since 1994:
- New convertible top somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago. ( goes up and down by hand ( needs pump and lines ( at least ))
- New dual exhaust somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago.( Sounds great, no leaks )
- Swapped rear axle out ( just one ) about 8 years ago because it was moaning.
- Two new cragars and tires on the front ( just last year )
- New Edelbrock 650 Performer carburetor ( just last year )
- New Summit ( original look but black ) Internally regulated high AMP alternator ( was $249 )
- The seats are adequate and not in any way original. no major rips, just not pretty.
- This engine and transmission was put in in 2013 and the guy I bought the motor off of said he recently rebuilt it. I do not know the year but I can tell you it is the steel crankshaft ( internally balanced ) ( skinny Harmonic balancer. )
- New upper ball joints and control arm bushings somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago.
- Some new sheet metal that fixed holes in back seat floor ( 10 to 15 years ago )
- Quarter Panel on drivers side, I put it on somewhere between 10 and 15 years ago.. Not great but better than the holes that were there...
Here's the list of things you might not expect:
- Needs clip for convertible top on drivers side ( the thing that holds it closed ( $64 on ebay right now ))
- I have never done anything with the front end other than the upper control arm bushings and ball joints. Long term you should expect to tend to the lower ones.
- Heater fan does not blow. Heat comes out but no fan.. ( just drive fast )
- Hood and trunk do not hold themselves up anymore... ( comes with baseball bat as a hood prop )
- The other baseball bat is holding up the passengers side seat ( great reclining chair at this time ) passenger leaned back too far and now it won't stay up on its own.
- You can drive it on the coldest day of the year or the hottest day of the year, it'll get you there.
- The parking brake does not work, I bought a complete cable kit last year from inline tube, and it's still in the box ( comes with car ).
- Trunk floor is all there but it's an oily mess ( that's probably why it didn't rust out )
This car is sold as is, where is. If you live in the area of South Jersey, you can drive this car home... it is road worthy, but the back tires are older and it will shake a little on the highway...
Immediate deposit of $500 is due within 48 hours of the auction ending. The remainder of the balance should be paid within 7 days of the auction ending... If you do not come and take the car within 14 days, the car will be relisted and you will surrender the $500 for wasting my time. Sorry, but I sold a car on Ebay before to someone that lived in california and it took him 3 months to come and get it.
Please make sure you ask questions before bidding.
I reserve the right to end this auction for any reason.
