Plymouth Other 1958 Description
1958 Savoy 2 DR HT EXCELLENT CHRISTINE CANDIDATE-PLUS IT HAS THE 392 HEMI This is a great driver as is, but in addition it is as solid A body as you will find, no cancer issues at all. 150 MPH Speedo, Full Sporttone Trim, Bumper Wings, Deluxe Steering Wheel, Roof Rails and more! The car was built in Windsor ON, and is a true 1958 Savoy 2 DR HT that has all of the important Belvedere/Fury important upgrades installed. Originally outfitted with a 6 cylinder and the two speed powerflite transmission, It now has a 392 Hemi and Torqueflight Transmission out of a 1957 New Yorker. Mileage unknown, was told it was gone through when car was restored about 20 years ago and has been driven little since. However, it starts and runs perfect, no smoke, no slippage etc. Engine shows signs of minor leaks when sitting.. No transmission leaks. Pinion seal leaking on rear end. It is an absolutely solid body. This does not mean there is not any surface rust on the undercarriage. When the car was restored 20 years ago it was done with the body on. However, there are not any holes going through the floor, trunk or rockers that I can find. There are two small holes on one piece of ancillary sheet metal. They are less than the size of a dime. For a 1958 unrestored Plymouth this is as good as you will find. In fact, I was going to use the body for my restoration project, but decided I just do not have enough time to pull two bodies off and swap them so I am moving forward with my original project. I will probably regret it because this is such a solid car. Nice glass, everything works fine. This is a Canadian made Plymouth and has a couple of minor differences from the US version. One thing is the extra piece of trim on the trunk. The other thing you may notice is the radiator support is slightly different and therefore the horns are in a different location. This is because of the longer 6 cylinder engine installed in Canadian Plymouths. As a side note, this makes it much easier to swap engines as you do not need to remove the radiator support like you do in US cars if you want more clearance. You just unbolt upper cross support, very nice, wish they were all designed like this!. Belvedere/Fury Side Trim as well as Savoy Trim. Savoy Trim will need to be removed and holes filled. Sporttone is reproduction Aluminum I bought off of Ebay. Bumper Wings REAL 150 MPH Fury Speedo. I installed, this is not a stick on faceplate, it is the real deal. Probably not calibrated so that is up to next owner to find the right speedo gear. Belvedere/Fury Deluxe Steering Wheel (the expensive one). Manual brakes, all work correctly. Parking brake holds on the steepest of hills. Dual exhaust, will need some work as it hangs low on one side, at least too low for my comfort. Aftermarket period correct black seat covers. I used them because I had them from a purchase many years ago. Likely you will want to replace as they are not the best quality out there. Looks nice, not show. The door panels are maroon. When I bought it there was a 1970’s high back bench seat in front and I was not fond of it so I removed them and got swapped them out for these frames. Used headline, not perfect and has a few flaws, but presentable and worse case you have excellent patterns. I do not have set of plastic molding which goes over them. Correct 1957 392 Hemi carb. Looks brand new but has been sitting. I am sure you would want to re-kit it. I have not installed it yet because car runs great as is and just did not have the time to get into this yet. New trunk lock and door and ignition lock sets. Trunk lock on car already. Set of three (3) Chrysler of Canada 1957-1959 service manuals. Correct 14” wheels powder coated red. Brand new correct size 215/75/r14 tires with zero miles on them (originally would have been 14 x 7.5 but those are bias tires and I prefer these for driving), very nice Christine hubcaps. Plus, I will include a full set of 15” wheels with vintage Goodyear Polyglas GT tires, a pair of H60’s and a pair of G60’s. Look awesome, but are old and not safe for street driving, just show. Set of Christine Movie style (Roberk) side view mirrors. Hard to find Roof Rails New battery, I bought an oversized (27P) 900 amp battery so there are never any starting issues. All lights work, heater blows hot, windshield wiper works, radio comes on, not sure of sound due to lack of antenna. I can start up and have driven it close around my neighborhood with no issues. However, it would be smart to check all the basics before going on a long road trip. The last road trip it had was a 2500 mile trip across Canada, but that has been a couple of years. With that said, this is an excellent 1958 Plymouth 2 DR HT which are becoming very hard to find in a condition that is neither restored or junk. Minor things needing attention: Drivers vent handle window has broken off. Needs replacing. New plastic bows for headliner needed. Front fender needs correct alignment, hangs slightly low in the front. Interior door light works on switch, needs door jamb switches purchased and installed. Please ask questions early, I am typically out of phone range during the weekend and it may take time to get back to you on a Saturday or Sunday. If you send a phone number I will call you. Many pics of undercarriage etc. available. Video of me starting and driving car etc. No trade offers please. Please do not hit buy it now if you do not plan on following through per terms of the auction. Already once someone did this never looked at car, promised to pay in a week, then two weeks later and then failed to contact me after repeated attempts. DEPOSITS ARE NOT REFUNDED Clear title in MY name. Thanks and enjoy.
