Oldsmobile Starfire 1964 Description
I recently purchased this Olds Starfire from a gentleman in Dallas Texas. This gentleman did a frame-off, body restoration to an original, and very clean and straight Texas car. This car is SUPER clean and virtually rust-free; both frame and body; as evidentcied by the photos! The underside of the drivers floor has a patch, and the left rear inner quarter panel has a quarter-sized hole beneath the chrome strip, visible only from underneath. Both the body and frame are in beautiful condition, and show extremely well! The "394", Four Barrel carb engine, starts, runs, and accelerates well, but could use some fine-tuning for a smoother idle. I had the carb rebuilt by the Twin Cities most reputable carb shop, The Carburator Shop-Maplewood Mn. 651-770-3505. These are the new parts and repair I've done within the last 300 miles: Carburator-Steering gear-Center steering link-Ragjoint-Front alignment-Fuelpump-Starter-Battery. The engine does have a couple of oil leaks. I was told by the person that I purchased this car from, that the car sat for approx. 1 year with the original rebuilt engine and tranny, before I purchased it. If so, the rebuilt engine and tranny has less than 1000 miles. The tranny shifts as all Roto's do, but comes out of third gear when everything gets up to temp. Hopefully, a band adjustment will be the needed fix! If not,for an added cost I can, and will have Bendtsen Speed Gems Inc. of Ham Lake, Mn., 763-767-4480, professionally build, adapt, and install a 7004R. The top is painted a rough-textured white and resembles a vinyl-top. I like it very much, and think it looks very Classy!! I like the paint work a lot, and think it does the car real justice! There is a 1 inch by 1 inch, slight "scratch marks"area, midway on the left rear quarter. The interior is mostly new, with orig. design, and is very beautiful and comfortable! Two dome, and one convenience light lenses need replacement. The dash and rear tray are in very excellent condition. The upper interior inside chrome around the windows is all there, but some pieces have a few dents. The chrome and brightwork on the exterior is very appeling, but may have a dent or two. Both bumpers have been rechromed and look good. The front bumper has a three-fourths inch long by one-fourth inch wide chip where bumper and grill meet. The trunk has new lining and the engine compartment is very clean. Please call to have your detailed questions answered-I will be honest, detailed, and forthright in person as in print! Thank You!!
