Oldsmobile Cutlass 1977 Description
This auction is for a 1977 Oldsmobile Cutlass Salon. My father is the original owner of the car. I am selling it for him. The factory manuals, window sticker, and documentation is included with the vehicle. The car has just under 65,000 miles on it.
Overall the car is in pretty good shape considering its age. It has the 350 cu in V8 with automatic transmission. Front disc brakes. Original black vinyl interior with bucket seats as shown in the pictures. Original radio with 8 track player. Power windows and locks. The complete package list/window sticker is also included. The driver’s side seat has some tears in it.
The body is in good condition. There is a small amount of rust where the vinyl cover meets the trunk area. The rear bumper has rust around the corners. Apparently, this was common for this model.
The tires are old and there is some dry rot evident.
The car had some issues starting up when I first started driving it. It would run and shift smooth when driving. I started having work done to it about a year and a half ago with the intention of using it as a daily driver, however I never ended up finishing before my fiancé and I ended up having a child along the way making it even more difficult to find time.
For the most part, the car is all original. I have made some small engine part change outs. I will preface this by saying, every part that I took off the car I saved in tote bins and is included in the auction. Nothing was done to the engine or vehicle itself that would alter the ability to go back to the original condition.
The parts I changed out were:
- The carburetor. Installed an edelbrock 1406 performer
- New radiator hoses.
- Plugs and wires and distributor cap
- Fan clutch
- Steering wheel
- Valve cover gaskets
- All new belts
- Fuel hoses and filter
- Transmission filter and fluid
- Thermostat and coolant
- Oil filter
- Full length headers for dual exhaust
I also have a number of brand new parts that were purchased to restore the car such as:
- Replacement washer fluid reservoir
- Rear quarter panel rubber extensions
- 2 magnaflow glass packs
- Other small bits and pieces.
Again, everything I took off has been saved and in salvageable condition. Nothing was destructively removed.
The condition at the moment: (I want to be as upfront as possible with the known issues)
·The battery is a little weak, I keep a trickle charger on it to maintain charge.
·It does start up and run better than it did before.
·AC and heating system still work.
·The tires are old and I am not sure when they were last changed.
·The exhaust is not complete at the moment. Only headers are installed.
·As far as the drivability, the car moves fwd and reverse however doesn’t shift into 2nd or 3rd. I believe this may have been a result of the carburetor change out. I don’t think vacuum line was hooked up correctly. I noticed this on the drive to have the exhaust put in which I had to stop because the car was so loud without an exhaust.
·The car can get on and off a trailer on its own but is not road worthy because of the items listed above.
I can certainly answer any questions you may have and take pictures of any other areas you request that I may have missed.
Thanks again.
