Oldsmobile 442 1965 Description
1965 Oldsmobile 442 Holiday Coupe. 400 engine. 4 speed. 3. 55 Posi-Traction rear. Oldsmobile did not stamp the vin on the engines until 1968 and I don't have the Protect-o-plate but this is almost certainly the original engine and transmission. The block was cast on June 15. 1965. the Muncie M-21 4 speed transmission was built on July 21st. and the car was built the 4th week of July. 1965. A professional shop recently overhauled the engine with new rings. bearings. cam. and valve job with guides and seals. The engine did not need boring and the factory steel crankshaft did not need turning. Options on the car are W-29 442 performance package. Muncie M-21 4 speed transmission. bucket seats with console. 3. 55 Posi-Traction rear. and radio. This 442 has been partially restored with new paint (a color change from the factory yellow with white top to red with an orange tint leaning toward 1969 Camaro hugger orange). new black vinyl top (not original). new interior. new red line tires. new exhaust including manifolds. mufflers. and pipes. new clutch. pressure plate. and throwout bearing. This 442 is an excellent survivor with no rust. solid clean dry floor pans and trunk. original clean frame and suspension with new shocks at some point. rear end still has the Limited Slip lubrication tag installed. The chrome and stainless is good to excellent with minor pitting. This is a real 442 with the following "442 only" identifying items:Heavy duty frame with one piece rail at the rear (not welded) and an extra lip on the rear frame crossmember. Rear boxed lower control arms. extra welded gussets where the front crossmember meets the frame rails. 3. 5 inch diameter driveshaft that necks down at both ends. Data plate shows 4V which indicates the W-29 442 performance option. 400 engine block casting 389298 B. head casting A 383821. The steering wheel is not original. the Hurst shifter is not original. the tach is in the correct position and works great but is a later model Sunpro. the radio is not original. The dash is in great condition with one small crack. the console is in good original condition with slight pitting. the black vinyl upholstery is new. the door panels are new. the carpet is new except the kick panels which are in good original condition. and the headliner is new. The paint is good to excellent with a couple flaws that I can not capture on film. This is a clean. solid. great running and driving 442. It is being sold on a Georgia bill of sale with a current tag slip. The car is being sold on an as-is basis with no warranty of any kind. You are encouraged to personally inspect the car prior to bidding. Please bid only if you have finances in order. have asked all questions. and are ready to purchase the car. I want $1000 cash or wire transfer within 48 hours of auction close. and the balance via bank wire transfer within 7 days of auction close. Call with any questions 423-413-4669.
