Oldsmobile 442 1986 Description

Here is a one owner 1986 442 for sale. 307, uto with console and factory T -tops. Gray exterior ( upper is charcoal with lighter gray below stripes) with burgundy interior . Story is, guy I know bought this car new and only used it on weekends for the first 10 years of its life. He then parked it in his rear yard, overed it and there it sat until fall of last year. This 442 has 17,395 original miles. All floor pans and the trunk pan are in beautiful shape. Has some surface rust on rear axle and springs, tc., ut nothing major. Trunk looks new - pan and exstensions are mint. Inner quarters are perfect. Spare and jack look like they were never used. Interior is incredible, ther than three smaller cracks in dash and areas of fading on front seats. The seats were covered with towels when he parked it but I think the car cover disintegrated and the towels fell in certain areas and the fading occurred on the front seats. I do think the areas could be dyed and that is what I planned on doing but I never pursued it further. Rear seat is in great shape. The rear side panels above arm rests has the plastic chrome areas wrinkling a bit. The radio works, s well as all the interior lights and gauges. Heater works, ower windows and door locks work sometime but are temperamental. Power seats work as well. Headliner was falling down so it was replaced. T-tops look great. New weatherstripping on them except for the smaller weatherstrip, hich I do have but are not installed. One locking mechanism on passenger side T-top is missing. The original GM t-top storage bags are mint and look unused. Carpet is original and in perfect shape. No floor mats, ot sure what happened to them.
When I purchased the car, he paint on the hood, deck lid and top behind the t-tops faded over time ( typical GM paint for the era ). It wasn't horrible but I had intentions of keeping the car so I had the car stripped and painted. Things change and life gets in the way so now it's for sale. The link below for photos shows before and after pictures. Paint is really nice, ith new decals ( still need to put the 442 decals on ). One small scuff on front bumper that paint guy did pulling car out and a small scratch on passenger side door down low in lighter gray area. 2-3 other small areas where pin stripes could have been applied a bit better, ut I do have pin striping for the next owner to do so. One small rust bubble on drivers door down very low and in front, ot sure why the paint guy didn't fix this. The anodized trim needs to be buffed and this car would look brand new. The original 15x7 wheels are in decent shape. They cleaned up nicely but do have some surface rust on them and deserve to be redone. Still has the original Goodyear Eagle GT's on it. They have great tread but I wouldn't trust them on any long trips - they are 30 years old. Engine is all original, tarts/runs/idles and drives like a dream - the engine purrs like a kitten. Haven't taken it out more than around the neighborhood but it drives awesome and runs at right around 170-180 degrees. The belts were changed and plugs. The gas tank was empty when I got it so it was filled and new battery was installed and she fired right up after 19 years. Really a nice 30 year old time capsule that hasn't been messed with. I have a clean title in owners original name, his car was last registered in 1997.
Below is a link to more pictures of the 442 - Ebay will not allow clickable links so put a http:// in front of it and insert in your browser for more pictures of the car - before and after the paint.
I have no problem showing the car for inspections - message me and I will send my contact phone number if interested. A $500.00 non refundable deposit due at auctions end with the balance in wire transfer, ashiers check. Once funds are cleared I will release title. Also, hipping is winning bidders responsibility but I will help in anyway I can.
This was one of the few performance cars back in the mid 80's. GM had the Buick Grand National, hevy Monte Carlo SS and Oldsmobile 442. The G bodies all look and drive awesome. These 442's weren't produced in massive numbers and will be the next cars to climb the ladder as a collector investment. Hard to believe this car is 30 years old.
This car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime.
