Oldsmobile Eighty-Eight 1955 Description
1955 Oldsmobile ConvertibleRestoration in process. There are several cars worth of some parts.
The car in process has a fully restored and powdercoated frame, S brake lines, ew suspension and brakes. It has custom front disk brakes that fit behind the stock rims. The engine is completely rebuilt as is the hydromatic transmission and installed in the frame.
The original body was too far gone to save but ironically the convertible chassis was in very solid shape. A rust-free two door hard top was purchased and the convertible specific pieces were salvaged from the original body and installed in the hardtop body after the roof was removed. The convertible chassis is heavily reinforced at the main X-brace in the center. The hard-tops frame complete with suspension will also be included in the sale.
There are crate after crate of parts, nly a portion of which are in these photos. Lots of sheet metal, oors, enders, oods, nd trim pieces. There is a complete top frame assembly and the original pump and hydraulic cylinders. Too much to list.
There is a second engine disassembled engine, lus another gearbox, nd dozens of other parts.
All goes together.
There is over $25K in the vehicle already, ver $10K in just the engine and transmission. On Oct-23-15 at 12:07:56 PDT, eller added the following information:
As we were moving sorting through the parts, e have found the original and fully reupholstered rear seat assembly, nd considerably more extra sheet metal (fenders, nother hood, tc.). The parts have been laid out and are accessible for inspection for those within driving range.
I will also post more photos.
The frame was dusty in the first photos from storage, hich don't do the restoration work on the chassis justice.
