Oldsmobile Cutlass 1970 Description
This 1970 Olds Cutlass Supreme convertible is a running project. If you are looking to restore a Cutlass. this is a great one to start with. A three-owner car with a clean. transferable NJ title. I have documentation of ownership back to 1972 when the long-term owner bought it as a used car. Don’t be scared off by the pictures…it’s actually better than it looks. The panels have surface rust due to the flaking paint (hey. makes it easier to strip!) but are surprisingly solid thanks to long-term indoor storage. I think the only patch panel needed is on the rear of the driver quarter panel (see pic); fenders. door skins. rockers are all solid. Strip it and it could be minimal work to be ready for paint. The convertible top. unfortunately. is shot and will need to be completely replaced. The dash is in very good shape for the age and is intact; not cut up for an aftermarket radio (an aftermarket 8-track player is in the glovebox) and the dash is not cracked. Bucket seats with center console for the auto-trans shifter. The front seat vinyl is in good shape. but the seat foam on the drivers seat could use to be replaced. The rear seats have split at many of the seams. but look presentable at a glance. The 350ci 4-barrel V8 is original to the car and has 135K miles. It starts and runs. and has had recent belts. hoses. brake pads. battery and more. The car has been yard-driven and seems to run fine. but I would advise going over the brakes before calling it roadworthy. An AC car. all the parts seem to be in place (but no. the AC does not blow cold). Good option list including buckets with center console. AC. 15-inch wheels. front disc brakes. posi rear. and even a tow package with electrical hookups (not sure if this is a factory option. dealer-installed or complete aftermarket; and the critical points would need to be checked before you hook up your Chris Craft). This car has never been abused or cut up. so it’s a better candidate than most of the surviving Cutlass convertibles you’ll find to bring back to life. That’s why I bought it. but a change in circumstances means I can’t restore this one and keep my other “toys”. so the convertible has to find a new home. Will consider trade for 2004 or later Pontiac Grand Prix GTP/GXP or Bonneville GXP with less than 100K miles (or something similar). NOTE: Car is located and can be seen in Little Falls. NJ 07424 (north NJ. about 15 miles west of NYC). Car is for sale locally and auction could end at any time.
