Oldsmobile Cutlass 1979 Description
Hello,I am a retired master mechanic,in my time I worked for all the GM divisions. When I purchased this car I did it with the intention of building a fast but street friendly classic that both I and my wife could enjoy as well as show.As it was ordered from the factory,it is well optioned, with power windows and door locks, tilt wheel, digital clock, heated back glass,Am/Fm 8 track stereo, upscale interior appointments, power front disc brakes and power steering. Original engine was an emissions and fuel friendly 260 V8.That was replaced with a rebuilt 1970 vintage 350 Rocket engine, with a nice cam,Holley intake, Edelbrock carb and the good Olds #6 cylinder heads, along with a Mallory ignition, this combination should make about 330 HP with the headers and 3" mandrel bent Stainless exhaust system. Also replaced was the M33 transmission with a 1989 700R4 mated to the 373/1 rear gear,This is a great pairing with a nice firm shift, transmission also has a properly operating torque convertor clutch with a manual overide just in case your doin that light to light thing. The interior was all redone with period correct materials as the photos show and a Calais dash cluster was wired in so the car now features factory Tach and gauges.Dash is unmolested and still carries the Delco 8 track although that would need repair[does not accept tapes] The undercarriage and frame are still in good condition with the original steel brake and fuel lines, car drives very nicely no squeaks or rattles and stops and steers very well.I believe this is a true 40K mile car because when I found it had been stored for years in a rented facility with the intention of a restore but it never got completed due to a divorce. The paint work was done by a well respected restoration shop in Homer Glenn that specializes in high end classic and muscle cars.Vinyl top is by Marks and hood VHN.My name is Steve# 815-260-3887 for questions.
