Oldsmobile Cutlass 1971 Description
1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass/442 W-30 "TRIPLE BLACK" Convertibletribute being sold with "No Reserve" This Oldsmobile up for auction is the perfect classic droptopto enjoy this summer. If you have been looking for an awesomeclassic muscle car convertible that you can instantly become a fan favorite at the local car shows or use this sweet black beauty as a daily driver around town then thisrare convertiblemay have your name on it! These 1970's muscle cars have incredible investment potential, and have been referred to as rolling bank accounts.Remember, When the top goes down the price goes up! If you can't afford a 1971 triple black 442 convertible like the one that sold at Barrett-Jackson in West Palm Beach, Florida this past spring for $176,000 or the 1971 triple black 442 convertible that sold at Scottsdale 2016 for $203,500 then this "No Reserve" auction may be for you. It is very hard to find one inCode 19 Ebony Blackwith white W-25 stripes. I'm sure every Olds guywill agreethat this "Triple Black" color, convertible top,and interior combination is probably thee most popular and most desirable. This sweet "Triple Black" Oldsmobile convertible up for auction is a W-30 recreation. This is not a Barrett-Jackson quality restoration by any stretch of the imagination, but the car was restored a little over a decade ago and still shows well. According to the previous owner, this Olds does not have the original numbers matching Rocket engine. This RocketBig Block 455 does start right up andsounds wicked. The prior owner spent a small fortune setting up this Rocket exactly the way he wanted. The new Accel high performance spark plug wires are 8.8MM for maximum spark and are nicely positioned on top of the valve covers. Thereare a lot of expensive chrome items under the hood along with all braided hoses except for the new Made in the U.S.A. top hose.He even had most of the bolts under the hood chromed. Theawesome ram-air air cleaner is genuine GM not aftermarket. The foam seal is an original as well. The options include power steering, power brakes, power convertible top, dual sport mirrors, Super Stock II sport wheels, 442 sport steering wheel, tilt wheel, tinted glass, door edge guards, and air conditioning. The air conditioning compressor looks like new, but there is no belt. The a/c condenser is still in place in front of the radiator, so getting the air conditioning back functional will be left up to the new owner. I saw no signs of this car ever being involved in an accident. The suspensionlooksin good condition to make this Oldsreally situp with the proud stance of a 442. The W-30 emblems are new old stock emblems not aftermarket re-pops. The doorsstill open and closelike back in 1971. All the seat belts are present for a family of five. The interior still shows in very nice condition as seen in the pictures. All the windows still roll up and down like they should. There is a brand spanking new top quality black convertible top with new padding, new well liner, and new back glass window. The installation of this new convertible top is impeccable. There is an originalblackconvertible top boot that came with the car included in the trunk. Those are used whenthe convertible top is down in the well, but I never use one so the top can be put up and down quickly. The entire top system was bled and new top fluid added, so the top goes up and down very fast, and seals up nicely. The dual snorkel ram-air hood has the steel frame and believed to be a genuine GM ram-air hood. The whale tail spoiler is also genuine GM and came off of a 1970 442 W-30 hardtop. In my opinion there is no feeling in the world like looking out the windshield at the most awesome ram-air muscle car hood with the top down and a peak in the rear view mirror at the whale tail. I tried to replace any missingoriginal factory decals in the engine compartment, and under the trunk lid. The front and the rear floor pans are the originals and have never been replaced. All four floor pans and the frame look in very nice condition. The entire undercarriage was nicely detailed. The carpeting is believed to be original, so the new owner may want to replace it at some point, but there is a set of fourbrand new black carpetedfloor mats. This Olds rides ona set of four brand new P245/60R15 B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A raised white lettered steel belted radial tires mounted on Super Stock II wheels painted Ebony Black to match the body. All four wheels have chrome lug nuts, all four center caps, andall fourbeauty trim rings. There is a 10-bolt 3.73 posi-traction rear-end, so this Olds was made to get up and rock. The original trunk floor wascoated with spatter spray for the trunkto stay in nice condition for many years to come. The trunkcarries a full size Super Stock II spare witha jack, jack stand, bumper mount, and crow bar. This way if there is ever a mishap on the road with a quick tire change you can be back on the road in minutes looking complete. The front and rear bumpers were both replaced with the rear bumper having the cut-out option for thecool chrome trumpet exhaust tipsto allow this Big Block 455 to breathe properly. The original dash pad has minor imperfection, but still has the chrome insert surrounding the dash. The dash holds anoriginal AM/FM radio that works through a front speaker. The rear side panels used to have speaker cut outs, but they were reupholstered to keep the original appearance. Cutting speaker holes in those panels will be left up to the winning bidder if they would like to have sound in the rear portion of the car. The wipers work on both speeds. All thehead lights, bright lights, all four tail lights, all four brake lights, all four turn signals, all four cornering lights, emergency flashers all work as they should. The gas gauge is accurate. The speedometer shows the speed to go faster than the actual speed, so the speedometer will need to be recalibrated if the new owner wishes. That was typical on these 70-72 442's from my past experience. Having the larger size Super Stock II wheels and larger tires also factory in the speedometer reading. The mileage on the odometeris believed to be correct at under 6 figures, but there is no way to verify that to be correct. The mileage is exempt on the classic car titles in most states. Even the horn works! There is a factory Oldsmobile vanity mirror on the passenger side sun visor. These older classics that have survived for over 40 years are becoming harder and harder to find in this condition. The Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1971 OldsmobileCutlass/442 W-30Convertible with the Rocket 455/355horsepower engine, and theair conditioning option listed at $349,595 in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices. Nada has the average condition listed at $235,915, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer! Nada hasthe lowest condition value at $169,215being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. Why not drive the same looking car for a mere fraction of those prices. What you see is exactly what you get! Whatever this classic convertible sells for in this no reserve auction is a win/win investment. I want any bidders to bid exactly what they feel this car is worth to them. This Oldsmobile is an investment that I believe will continue to rise as these cars haveshown toconsistently escalate in value. I personally feel these GM A-Body muscle cars are the finest handling cars I have ever driven. This car is for the guy or girl that used to have one back in high school and would like to relive their youth or for someone who simply wants a classic convertible to enjoy with the top down this summer. It would be a great car to show up at a class reunion to prove how cool you still are. You have to have an outgoing personality to own a car like this, because everywhere you drive people will be attracted to you like a magnet. The new owner will have endless thumbs up wherever they drive. Here is a prime opportunity to acquire your dream car at a reasonable price. The deposit will need to be paid within 24 hours, and the balance is due within 72 hours prior to the pick-up or transport of this muscle car. I live on the north side of Chicago and have the clean and clear Illinois title is in my name and will be sent out by U.S. Priority mail to the address provided to me in the item sold email from eBay the same day the funds are clear, or be kept in the glove compartment with the originalowner's manual for transport. Whichever way the winning bidder decides. The car is being stored at a buddy's house less than an hour north of me in Kenosha, WI. It will need to be picked up from there. The buyer is responsible for pick-up or transport. I know my descriptionis a little long winded, but I tried to list and accurately portray everything I couldthink ofin the description.
