Mercury Grand Marquis 1973 Description
1973 Mercury Marquis Brougham 2-DoorJust 99000 original miles (and I'm still driving it), I'm 2nd owner since 72000 miles, the original owners were an elderly couple. California car from San Jose with essentially no rust, no major accidents, etc. Original 429 4-BBL car, I have the original 429 block, and the car currently has a custom built (for this car) +0.030" 460 with large valve ported heads, balanced bottom end, custom ground camshaft, aluminum intake, etc, and is a turn-key low maintenance engine (~350 HP & ~500 TQ). The car drives smoothly and I have measured 22 mpg Highway more than once (it still gets ~8-10 mpg city, of course). This is a relatively low mileage rust-free straight body car that I drive daily but it does need work. Known issues: the transmission is on its way out and will need to be rebuilt; engine uses water and I haven't investigated why--I just check level and top off if necessary (driven it that way for years); some front end suspension bushings need replacing.
Power windows and power driver's seat work, headlight doors work, lights, turn signals, interior lighting, dash lighting, trunk light, etc all work, great upholstery, carpeting, crack-free dash pad, very nice interior overall. Heater and blower fan work, the A/C did work before I emptied the system to swap in the 460 engine. Lots of tread on all 5 tires. The California Certificate of Title ("pink slip") is free and clear and in my name and the registration is current into 2017.
QUESTION: Could it be driven home? ANSWER: If I planned strategically I could drive this car from San Francisco to Los Angeles if I were the one buying it, but I cannot speak for you. If you understand classic car mechanical & maintenance then please call and I'll be happy to discuss. I will consider personally delivering/driving this car to as far as Los Angeles for a negligible fee, which must be negotiated prior to sale. Buyer must arrange for any commercial transport. These cars are beginning to go up in value and this is a great fixer-upper that is complete and properly priced relative to its condition....I'm just getting burnt out on the classic car scene. I recommend the purchaser of this car be well versed in 1960s-1970's American V8 automobile maintenance. For any other specific questions please call 31Zero-435-19ZeroZero, no texts.
All sales final, sold as is. Happy bidding!
