Mercury Other 1970 Description
1970 Cyclone Spoiler. According to the Marti report this car was born with competition green paint. 3. 91 TL rear. 429 Super Cobra Jet Engine / Drag Pack. close ratio 4-speed. hite sidewall tires. and an AM radio. As you can see the car is now competition yellow. The paint is very nice. The black interior is also very nice. The dash pad has a small crack in the usual place. The AM radio remains in place. The metal part of the dash is like new. All the gauges work. The car is about 95% rust free. It was heavily undercoated either at the factory or when it was new. The drivers trunk drop off has a small hole I pointed out in one of the videos. Also. the drivers side floor plan had a small patch welded in just in front of the seat. Everything else is solid. The doors. quarters. and fenders appear to be rust free. Meaning no rust repair ever. There is a little body work but I think it was for dents. The hood and trunk lid appear rust free. Unfortunately all the SCJ components are gone. This car is a very nice driver as it sits or would be an excellent candidate for a restoration. The odometer reads 36. 87 miles. It was last titled in 2005 showing 35. 03 miles. The previous owner claims they are the original miles however there is no documentation to support the claim. The motor is a 429 block C9VE-B. the heads are D0VE-?. The car has new Hooker headers and complete exhaust system out the back. Newer Holley 750 carb on top an aluminum high rise. I don't know what the automatic is from. It was completely rebuilt with a shift kit and a 3500 stall converter. The car runs strong and sounds great. The rear is a 3. 25 traction lock with 28 spline axles. All the glass is original car-lite except the windshield. The interior looks original except the Mustang shifter. Additions to the car include; working hide away headlights. 15 inch magnum 500 wheels. and power steering. The car still has 4 wheel drum brakes. The only remnants of the car's former glory is the visabilty of grabber green paint in the door jams. the transmission tunnel was cut for a 4-speed. the grommet remains in the firewall for the clutch rod. and the speedo cable has enough length to wrap around the trans and enter from the opposite side as it would have with a 4-speed. The gear reduction end is gone. The oil cooler brackets are gone. The car has traction bars that replaced the staggered rear shock plates. As I said its either a very nice. solid driver as it sits or a very nice. solid resortation candidate. Depends what you want. The bottom line is. Cyclone Spoilers don't come up for sale very often. Nearly rust free and/or original SCJ cars are even harder to find. Partial trades considered. Must be pre 1973 Ford or Mercury muscle car. You also have to be able to bring the car to me. I will not trade from pictures. Check out videos and pictures at tannersclassics. com or call LeRoy at 717-254-5075. The car is for sale locally so the ad may be canceled at any time.
