Jeep Commando 1972 Description
Here is a pretty decent example of a 1972 Jeep Commando. This Jeep is equipped with the 304 V-8 engine and automatic transmission. It is also 4 wheel drive, ith hi-lo range and lock out hubs. It runs great, tarts right up and idles correctly, nd has a newer battery. The engine has plenty of power, oes not make any unusual noises, or does it smoke. The automatic transmission shifts great, ll functions of the transfer case work, he shifter seems a little sloppy but definitely works fine. All of the electricals work as they should, ncluding head and tail lights, urn signals and brake lights, indshield wipers and heater, nd the original radio. The aftermarket tach and amp gauge do not work, ut the aftermarket oil pressure gauge does work. The temperature selector for the heater is a little stiff, ut it does work. The odometer reads 77,100 miles, ut the Colorado title shows mileage exempt as it is a vehicle over 10 years old. The previous owner had the brakes professionally replaced, he front springs re-arched with new bushings, nd the carburetor rebuilt. It drives down the road very well, ust a little bit of wandering as is to be expected from an older Jeep. The body has had a few panels repainted, nd they are noticeable from the original paint due to different degrees of fading. The rocker panels are very rusty, t appears as though some one had some sort of a cover over them at one time. There is rust spots in the floors, ith a few areas showing through, ut really overall it is still pretty solid. The tail gate also has some rust in it, ut still operates fine. The right rear spring mount is showing some rust, nd should probably be addressed at some point. The bumpers are pretty straight, ith minor damage, ut still look good. The original hubcaps are are still in place, ncluding the spare. The tires have excellent tread, ut all are beginning to show dry rot near the tread. The front seats show some normal wear, ith a few spots worn through, he rear seat is great. The door panels and side panels are in good shape, he door arm rests are showing a little wear. The glass is all good, ith just normal minor pitting, he door glasses operate fine. The original owners manual is still in the glove box. There is a dent in the right front fender, ding in the hood, inor hail damage on the roof, nd previous body work on the left rear corner. The original jack is missing, t does come with a bottle jack.
While it may sound like a lot of different issues, hey are pretty much minor things, nd normal for a Jeep of this age. It is a running, riving classic Jeep, eady to be driven as is or restore to original condition. It is complete, uns and drives good, nd still looks respectable. I have the clear Colorado title in my name. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, will help any way that I can.
