Jeep CJ 1983 Description
1983 Jeep Scrambler -CJ8 I have owned this jeep since the 1990s but haven't had it on the road for around 10 years. It has a nearly complete restoration over the last year or so but I'm out of time and patience. 1.) Engine: everything that bolts on the engine has been replaced. Weber Carburetor, starter, solenoid, valve cover, alternator, thermostat, freeze plugs, belts, hoses, plugs wires and all fluids are new. 2.) Body is straight and in very good shape. it had one dent under the passenger door that was repaired professionally The paint is the 2015 Hemi orange, decals are aftermarket. I have the original scrambler badges for the sides which are included. The hood, windshield frame and both front quarters are heavy gauge fiberglass as well as the bulkhead, I have not sealed the bulkhead in because i wasn't sure if i wanted to use the fiberglass or the original. The original need a little work on the bottom, but has been painted and is definitely usable as is (also included) The doors are in great shape and have had the seal and all rubber replaced in them. All hinges, mirrors, door and hood hardware etc. has been replaced with stainless steel. 3.) Frame is in very good condition with no welds or repairs. All body bushings, shocks etc. have been replaced. 4.) The steering box has been replaced, bushings on steering components have been replaced, It will need a front end alignment. 5.) Interior: New seats, new seat belts, new indicator light and pulls. All lights work as the should. Stock AMC am/fm radio works well. Jeep needs a new speedo cluster. It has a new gas tank sending unit, speedo cable and emergency brake cable but the emergency brake light stays lit and the rest of the cluster is dead. I have a severely bad back or I would have already replaced it..I just can't. The interior of the hard top also need to be painted. That's about it I think. Its a good old jeep. Pump the gas a few times and she starts every time. May have to repeat it if shes been sitting for awhile. It will need to be towed or trailed it runs well enough to drive around my neighborhood but not open road worthy yet. I have put an absolute ton of money into this jeep. My health is not going to allow me to finish it, so my loss is your gain.On May-31-16 at 07:04:47 PDT, seller added the following information:I see on the title check its coming back with an error that reads odometer problem. Be assured that I have owned this vehicle since the late 1990's. The last time I had it registered was in Virginia in September in 2001. I wasn't positive of the actual mileage when I was writing the add so I put 100,000. The actual mileage is closer to 79,000. Thanks, Mike
