Jeep Other 1979 Description
This is titled as a 1979 CJ but there has been so much work done to it the vin is not on the jeep. I put a 91 YJ body on the CJ7 frame. I had to do some rust repair work at the rear of the frame where the frame vin was so the frame vin doesn't show either. I do have an Indiana salvage title for the YJ body. The YJ body was from California and was rust free but had an under dash fire so the cowl had to be straightened. New parts include fresh balanced rebuild on the AMC 304, 030 over. Heads rebuilt, ew push rods, ew lifters, RP head bolts, ew water pump, ew alternator, ew oil pump, ew radiator, ew harmonic balancer, ew front and rear brakes, ronts are disk, resh paint on drivers side to correct paint discolored by the fire, ood tires (5), ew 15 gallon fuel tank, ew fuel tank skid plate, ew fuel tank sending unit, ew speedometer with fuel gauge, ew fender lights and front turn signal lights, ewsteering wheel no horn. I added mechanical gauges as I did not like stock electric gauges. New front and rear shocks. Exhaust is headers to a 3" collector flex pipe to Thrush mufflers, o exhaust. Less than 20 miles on the engine rebuild at this time. New windshield to cowl gasket. New glove compartment. There are probably a few other new/good things I have forgotten to mention. Now the bad: I did not rebuild the trans but I did open it up and it looks good but second gear acts up, he trans is a Borg warner T150 coupled to a Dana 20 transfer case. Idid not rebuild the front or rear suspension so it rides like an old jeep. I did convert it from power steering to manual steering with a new steering gear box and coupler. While I use the jeep with no concerns it is not an everyday driver. I put the wipers on but due to the wiper mechanicals being CJ and the window frame YJ they don't work. Same with the heater. I did not hook up the heater as the core leaks and I don't use the jeep in the winter so it doesn't bother me.CJ window defroster set up is not compatible with a YJ window frame so no defrosters. I did put in all new cables in the dash but they are not hooked up. I put in all new dash lights. Before I put in the new speedometer the fuel gauge wasn't working so I put a hole in the dash and installed an analog gauge but it was not compatible with the new sending unit so now there is a hole in the dash. I broke the front glass off of the mechanical temperature gauge but the gauge still works. The jeep can be a daily driver but should be considered to be a drivable project, off road or crawler project or rat rod wanna be with the AMC 304. The engine is equipped with an Edelbrock aluminum manifold and Holley carburetor, delbrock aluminum valve covers and air cleaner and an aluminumbell housing.Headers are ceramic paint coated. Please ask questions before bidding to make sure this vehicle is what you want and that you fully understand the vehicle's condition. I want you to be happy with this jeep so please ask first or get an independent inspection before bidding. Thank You
