GMC Other 1961 Description
Hello, nd thank you for looking, am selling my 1961 GMC 1500 pickup. I bought it in July of 2014 and it was my daily driver until a month ago. the only problems I have had with it was the generator ( of course) which I swapped over to a one wire Duramax alternator. and the front drivers wheel bearings. I replaced them in August. in June I did a tune up on it ( plugs, wires, attery, ebuilt the carb) All the brakes and lines were replaced last year, nd the tires have a lot of life left on them. The carb is a Holley 2 barrel, nd it has a four speed on the floor, he seat was recovered last year also. one of the front bumperettes is bent back and there is a crack on the front trim that needs to be welded. the body is very clean considering its age, he only real problems would be on the driver side, here is a small spot of rust developing on the door skin, nd one on the front fender, nd a spot on the hood as well. I changed all the oil seals on the valves in the spring as well. I took off the old rear " bumper" it was just some diamond plate, nd I have a bumper off a 55 chevy if you would like it.The Good:
- new brakes and lines
- rebuilt carb and tune up
- just inspected ( 07/16)
- pretty solid body
- I have the power steering conversion and a ton of spare parts to go with it as well
- new one wire alternator
- new oil seals
The bad:
- leaks and burns oil, ecause its an old truck
- needs front passenger side wheel bearings
- speedometer not working ( the synchro on the outside of the tranny broke, MC sells it though)
- Passenger side wiper blade mount is broke ( LMC has that also)
- Rear main seal leaks ( I have the seal, nd it's a two piece design so you dont have to pull the tranny
