GMC Sierra 1500 1988 Description
I've had truck for about 8 years. Bought from mechanic who regularly works on my car(s). He put rebuilt 350 V-8 in it and had about 20K when I bought it w/less than approx 40K on it now; TH400 turbo 3 spd auto trans. As far as I know except for motor, drivetrain original. Has between 195 - 200,000 miles on it. Odometer says around 195K but I've noticed that it is only working intermittently. Runs and drives - I've been using it as my daily driver for about a month waiting for other vehicle repairs to be completed - but needs body work (surface rust on frame but no rot on frame or bed or cab floor but there is rust through on rear fenders, rear bumper, cab corners, rocker panels, bottom of doors). Has tonneau cover (one of the hydraulic lifts needs to be replaced), and tow hitch w/ball and extension. Alloy wheels and like new tires. NEEDS exhaust and suspension work. Exhaust: left exhaust manifold gasket; pipes from cat to muffler and after muffler. Suspension: shocks, right tie rod, idler arm. Needs miscellaneous minor work too - like speedometer works intermittently; power door locks don't work - need new switches/motor??; engaging high beams turns lights off - don't know if bulb issue or switch issue. A/C compressor seems to engage but warm air - may just need a charge but I haven't bothered with it; parking brake doesn't hold - suspect cable needs to be replaced; parking brake light stays on - replaced lines and suspect air still in line(s) and needs to be bled; gear shift lever needs adjustment shows in 2nd when actually in drive for example; glove box needs new hinge. Relatively minor stuff but want to make it known that this might be considered a project truck that you can drive daily in between projects. I moved and no longer have a place to work on it so just letting it go. Because it is pre-1995, it is exempt from any NJ motor vehicle inspection.
