GMC Other 1951 Description
Today I decided I should make a little space by selling off a couple of my toys. This one is a perfect candidate to be made into a Rat Rod. There are several really cool 48-52 Chevy's out there and several more trucks that have been attempted to be made into something they are not. It's not everyday you see a GMC 3100 Deluxe 5 window short box and when you do they are usually restored original trucks. This one is not, it has a 65 year old in the making one of a kind patina finish that could not be duplicated. The color variety is something even the most talented builder could not duplicate. It even has lichensgrowing on a few panels that I left on for additional character. These could easily be removed if wanted but could not be duplicated if desired. Everything about this truck gives it the most radical RAT ROD look you could find. The original windshields, rear cab corner glass and one vent window have just the right amount of "fog" to look period authentic but still have good visibility. The door glasses, drivers vent and rear window are gone. Of course with the patina you have to expect a little rust, the worse places being the floor, rockers, bottoms insides of doors, running boardsand the lower dash could easily be repaired without disturbing the original look. The cab cornersand lower fenders all have some rust butnot as bad as many I've seen. I personally wouldn'tfix as it adds to the look. The inner fenders are nice and the firewall is beautiful. The tailgate has been swapped out to a Chevrolet tail gate and it also has a Chevrolet heater box that was installed at some point. The trucklooks to have the original 3spd transmission in it but the engine has been changed to a 270cid 6cyl out of a 55-62 GMC truck. If you were wanting to put this truck back to an original appearance truck the frame also has a couple of spots that would need a little repair due to rust, an easy fix for anyone handy with a welder. Now for the fun part: I've collecteda lot of the pieces you would want to build a daily drive-able RAT ROD and they are included with the truck.A Chevy S-10 framewith front suspension and brakes, A3.73 posi-traction disk brake rear end with ABS from a Chevy Silverado, A 5.3l LS1 V8 engine with complete wiring harness (it comes fully dressed with brackets, P.S. pump, alternator, A/C compressor and all pulleys) and matching 4L60E4spd automatic transmission. The engine did run good but it had a rod knock, I was planning on rebuilding it for another couple 100hp. The transmission was good. I do have the ECM that will be included also in the sale if I can find it, somehow it got miss-placed. It's yours if found but no guarantee. This is a great project or a real money maker if so desired. You can not duplicate the look of this truck!! It will be a real show stopper when finished and with the modern drivetrain it could comfortably be driven cross country. I have a clean Florida title in my name. I can also help arrange very reasonable transportation if you would like it delivered or we can help you load it if you want to come and get it. I also can help arrange port delivery for the truck and all the parts for all of my international lookers. I also get very good shipping rates to pretty much anywhere.
